Spring has FINALLY arrived, the sun is beaming, the birds are singing and it is a glorious 20 degrees! That means it’s time to break out all of the peachy pink, golden glow products that help you bring that sunshine-y feeling into your makeup.
There is just something about a radiant peachy cheek colour that screams spring to me, its perfect for light makeup days with just a glowy flush of colour or layered for a more intense peachy sheen. Think of pairing a more simple peachy-pink blush with minimal shimmer and a pink lip for everyday or try something with a little more punch and nude gloss for a night out.
My original go-to peachy pink blush is Benefit’s Dandelion. A beautiful pale pink with a slight peachy tone and a radiant finish. It is the perfect spring or summer blush with just a hit of colour and luminosity that brightens the face right up!
Dandelion has been a favourite for years but then just last year Benefit released their GALifornia blush and it too became a must have for this time of year. GALifornia is a sunny golden pink that blends a bright pop of pink with a shimmering gold for a true sun kissed glow.
This year, Benefit Cosmetics has compiled my must have spring shades into one convenient palette along a few other favourite and a brand new blush to top it all off!
The Benefit Cosmetics Blush Bar Palette ($78 CAD/$59 USD – $190 value/$145 value) is a limited edition cheek palette that features 4 of their bestselling boxed powders including Dandelion, GALifornia, Rockateur (a beautiful rose gold mauve), Hoola (their award winning matte bronzer) and one brand new release – Gold Rush!
The Blush Bar is an annual treat from Benefit that gives you the opportunity to try the best of their powders without breaking the bank. An individual boxed blush goes for $38 CAD, so for the cost of two you get five gorgeous options all in one travel friendly palette. The best bit is, the pans in this palette are equivalently sized to their individual counterparts so you truly get the best bang for your buck!
This year, the ballerina themed palette is all about those summery cheeks with a range of pinky-peach shades and a good dose of subtle shimmer. While all of the shades in the palette work together and have similar hues, they are all quite different and the palette gives you a ton of versatility.
The newest addition to the Benefit Boxed Blush family and the star of this palette is Gold Rush ($38 CAD/$29 USD). A rich “golden nectar” otherwise known as a peachy shade infused with fine golden foiled flecks for a subtle, sophisticated sheen. The blush comes with an embossed golden nugget design and a strong metallic overspray that gradually lifts away and doesn’t effect the look or the wear of the blush. There is a refined gold foil shimmer dispersed throughout the blush but it is no where near as strong as the overspray suggests.
The overall effect is a beautiful warm peach that blends out to a pearly gold finish and a healthy beachy glow. Think golden goddess washed up in the Bahamas. It’s ideal for fair or light-medium skin tones but won’t necessarily show up on you naturally sunkissed babes.
The formula is just as wonderful as all other boxed blushes, it is smooth and ultra creamy and has a natural finish. The pigment is buildable but not super strong (which I actually prefer) but blends seamlessly into the skin.
