With the holidays in full swing, there is new makeup popping up left, right and centre. I see so many new releases come across my desk on a daily basis and even I find it hard to keep up so I can only imagine how confusing it can be for you! It can be almost impossible to figure out what is worth buying and what is just a fun treat for the season. So I wanted to show you two new releases that have made their way into my everyday routine and onto my list on must have makeup.
NARS Cosmetics has always been a brand I turn to for out of the box eyeshadows that play with different finishes and bold colour combinations. Their Dual-Finish Eyeshadows are some of my absolute favourites for high shine, metallic finishes. Now they are amped it up even further with their brand new NARSISSIST Wanted Eyeshadow Palette.
The NARSISSIST Wanted Eyeshadow Palette ($74 CAD/$59 USD) is an all new game changer that promises everything you have ever wanted in an eyeshadow and more. Think more pigment, richer colour, and instant gratification.
The sleek rose gold compact contains 12 shadows in a warm nude range featuring pinks, rose golds, browns, cranberries and even a pop of olive. It may look just like all of the other warm neutral palettes out there but this beauty is truly one of a kind. The tones of each shade are so perfectly coordinated that they work on every skin tone and reflect differently on every complexion.
The Wanted palette is expertly laid out with a mixture of different finishes and formulas. There is a range of buttery matte transition shades and base colours, beautiful satins and shimmers and even a couple dramatic glittery metallics. The palette itself is compact but you can create an endless variety of looks from simple, everyday ones to full on glam.
The shadows have an all new pure-pigment formula that brings the richest colour payoff yet with an innovative powder suspended in a liquid binding system for intense, high-impact colour. The mattes are seriously pigmented, creamy to the touch and they build beautifully on the lid. The shimmers are the true star of the palette with an ultra-smooth texture that glides onto the lid and leaves an almost wet, metallic sheen. The one glittering metallic is almost like a pressed pigment that delivers a gorgeous glitter top coat or an intense foiled finish when used wet.
Shades left to right from top to bottom –
Biarritz (a matte neutral cream), Satisfaction (a shimmering golden pink), Delirium (a metallic rose), Temptress (a satin paprika), Seven Heaven (a matte sand), Shadow Hill ( a matte saddle), Mendoza (a shimmering pink copper), Wicked Game (a satin cranberry), Shooting Star (a sparkling champagne), LA LA (a shimmering deep bronze), Fallen Star (a shimmering antique bronze), and Coconut Grove (a matte deep brown)
The NARSISSIST Wanted Palette is the perfect all-in-one palette filled with endless opportunities. It’s my current favourite palette for everyday use and for more glamorous holiday looks.
No eye look is complete without a beautiful statement lip and I have been loving the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigments to give that pop of colour.
The NARS Powermatte Lip Pigments ($34 CAD/$26 USD – 0.18 fl oz) are innovative matte liquid lipsticks that are in a world all of their own when compared to other matte liquid lips. These are truly weightless with an inky fluid-like consistency that delivers full high-impact colour payoff with very little product.
The ink-like formula smooths over every crack and crevice in your lips and melts into them, leaving a second skin like finish that moves with your lips. It dries quickly and locks the colour onto your lips (leaving a stain behind) but does not dry down fully so they stay comfortable and wearable all day long. No desert-like lips with these beauties, they may look and feel velvety and matte but they feel like you have absolutely nothing on.
The Powermatte Lipsticks have a Fluid Pigment Complex meaning the actual liquid is infused with millions of individual liquified pigments making for a more concentrated level of colour versus the base itself. Making these a true innovative liquid pigment not a lipstick or a gloss but pure colour similar to an oil paint an artist would use.
The intense colour payoff means you need very little product for full opacity and you can achieve it in one carefully applied layer. The darker shades do require a second coat but luckily they layer beautifully, even throughout the day. The super tiny doe foot applicator makes it easy to precisely line and fill in your lips and it holds just the right amount of product for one application.
To help with perfect application, I always love to use one of the NARS Precision Lip Liners ($30 CAD/$24 USD – 26 shades). They are ultra pigmented wonder lip liners with a creamy yet matte finish that pairs perfectly with every shade!
L-R Walk This Way, Low Rider, London Calling, Don’t Stop
There are 20 shades within the line, ranging from darker nudes and pinks to reds, vampy plums and even a pitch black. All of which are named after classic rock n’ roll hit songs and inspired by the rebellion of the rock n’ roll era. I have the shade Walk This Way (a warm rose pink), Low Rider (a bright, cool toned pink), London Calling (a deep warm plum), and Don’t Stop (a hot geranium).
