The holiday season is all about sparkling baubles, shimmering lights, and over the top glamour. All of those holiday parties, late night drives to hunt down the best lights and Christmas adventures are filled with the spirit so what better time is there to break out your best sparkly makeup and glow from head to toe?
I personally don’t think you can really be fully immersed in the holiday spirit unless you have glitter on your eyelids and a ruby red lip so I have pulled together 3 of my absolute favourite products to help you achieve just that!
Urban Decay is my go-to brand for high shine, metallic eyeshadows, vibrant jewel tones and glittering topcoats. Their Moondust Eyeshadows and Heavy Metal Glitter Liners have long been favourites of mine that I reach for whenever I want to do a more dramatic, shimmering look.
The Urban Decay Heavy Metals Metallic Eyeshadow Palette (20×0.03oz – $72 CAD/$55 USD) is a stunning limited edition palette that was inspired by modern art and released just in time for the holidays! It has an incredibly unique design with a metallic purple case that slides to reveal the double ended palette with a large mirror in the centre. 20 shades are divided by neutrals and classic metallics on the right and bright, bold jewel tones on the left.
The Heavy Metals palette was developed to be an accent to other palettes in your collection, such as the Urban Decay Naked palettes. It is fully made up of a brand new formula that takes their Moondust Shadows to an entirely new level. These shadows are almost like pressed pigments with insane colour payoff, a serious metallic sheen and an ultra velvety texture. They feel almost like a cream to the touch and they just glide like butter onto the skin and blend out seamlessly.
This palette truly is incredible and a one of a kind palette that you can’t live without if you want a little sparkle in your life. The best bit is that it’s on sale at this very moment for Sephora’s Weekly Wow Sale. You can get it for only $36 CAD/$39 USD on Sephora or Urbandecay.com
The Liquid Shadow
For those days when you want a serious punch of glamour but you don’t want to do a ton of work or spend a lot of time on your makeup, a liquid shadow is a must! The Stila Cosmetics Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows (0.15oz – $31 CAD/$24 USD) are some of the most beautiful products in existence.
These shadows take the glamour and glow of loose glitter and combine it with a liquid base to take away all of the hassle that comes with glitter. These long-wearing liquid glitters have a lightweight, water-based texture that holds microfine glitter in an array of 9 permanent shades. They have the perfect blend of pearly shimmer and glitter for a dazzling ultra sparkle finish that adds a serious wow factor to any look.
They formula makes them a breeze to apply, you just paint them on and blend out the edges for a seamless finish. Or you can apply them in targeted areas for a pop. They glide on easily and dry down quickly locking in all of the sparkle without any mess or fallout.
For holiday, Stila have released the Eye For Elegance Gift Set ($59 CAD/$94 value) which features 6 deluxe sized shades of the liquid shadows. It contains 3 shades of the Glitter & Glow formula (Peachy Sheen, Smoldering Satin, Next To Notte) and 3 shades of the brand NEW Shimmer & Glow formula (Kitten, Grace, Twig).
This new formula will not be available individually until next year but this sneak peek has already proved to me that they are just as incredible as their sisters. They offer a high sheen, shimmer finish that looks like liquified metal on the lids.
The Pure Glitter
To add that little pop of sparkle to any look, I always reach for the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liners ($23 CAD/$20 USD). They are the absolute perfect finishing touch as a glittery wing, an accent lower lash line, or a spotlight of glitter on the lid and they come in 13 stunning shades, some of which are clear, some have more tint, some are duo chrome and some have really cool reflects.
The Heavy Metal Liners are beautiful, buildable water-based liners that suspend superfine glitter in a clear gel base. The gel consistency means the glitters stays mixed within the formula, it won’t settle giving you an uneven application and you don’t need to shake it up.
The gel glides on over all types of shadows and other liners, dries down quickly and stays put all day long. This glitter will not budge, smudge, transfer or migrate once it sets. The ultra precise thin tipped brush makes it super simple to create a thin line or a pointy wing. If you want to cover more space, simply turn the brush on its side and paint it on.
How do you add a bit of sparkle to your holiday looks? What are your favourite glittery products?
