Summer is officially here and I don’t know about you, but the biggest struggle I have during these sweaty months is keeping my makeup in place and on my face! Over the years, I have learned that it takes proper preparation and planning to make sure my hard work doesn’t get ruined and that means I need to arm myself with primers, powders, and setting sprays.
For the longest time, my number one setting spray has been the Urban Decay All Nighter Spray followed closely by the Skindinavia Makeup Setting Spray (review here). Now my two favourites have come together to create an incredible new collection of preparation products!
This collection features a couple of new products and a re-release of a few old staples.
To kick it off, Urban Decay’s infamous settings & priming sprays are back and better than ever. The entire line has been re-imagined and re-packaged in beautiful soft touch bottles with frosted caps and sleek writing. The bottles also feature a specially designed nozzle that delivers a calibrated micro-fine mist.
The two priming sprays are differentiated by their bright green bottles and they are currently my favourite way to start my makeup routine. These sprays are intended to prep skin for the application of makeup, hydrate and balance the skin.
The B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Priming Spray ($39 CAD) gives skin a quick dose of vitamins and helps calm a multitude of skin woes. It is a soothing spray that preps, primes, hydrates, softens, and evens out the skin tone, absorbing oil and reducing shine. It is packed with antioxidants, willow bark, vitamin E and the 1st patented stabilized form of topical vitamin B6. It can be used to wake up your skin in the morning (my personal fav), to refresh it during the day or to prepare for your skincare at night.
The Quick Fix HydraCharged Complexion Prep Priming Spray ($39 CAD) is a magic potion that can help bring your skin back to life. It is meant to be used post cleansing to balance, hydrate, soothe and soften skin while replacing any lost moisture! It visibly reduces the appearance of pores and brightens to give you a glowing complexion and it is packed with Vitamin B3, Sepitonic M3, and coconut water.
The cult-classic setting sprays are back with their groundbreaking formulas that help makeup last all day and night through any conditions. There are 3 different high-tech, light as air formulas, each with a different purpose and preferred skin type.
The All Nighter Spray ($39 CAD) is suitable for all skin types, the De-Slick Spray is best for oily skin, and the Chill Spray is best for normal – dry skin. All three sprays are designed to keep makeup looking freshly applied and flawless for up to 16 hours with no melting, fading, or settling. They lock your hard work in place so there is no need to touch up or powder throughout the day.
The De-Slick formula is incredible for oily skin as it controls oil, deflects surface shine and keep skin matte all day long. It prevents all sort of makeup mishaps caused by oil including smudging, sliding and fading.
The Chill formula features time-release technology that cools the surface of your makeup for an even better wear and it also hydrates the skin throughout the day.
To go along with those incredible sprays, Urban Decay has released three Complexion Primers that come housed in gorgeous clear frosted tubes with metallic gunmetal accents.
The De-Slick Complexion Primer ($38 CAD) is inspired by the cult classic De-Slick in a Tube. It is a lightweight, oil-absorbing primer that keeps oil in check in even the most extreme conditions. The sheer nude formula controls shine, minimizes the look of pores and mattifies skin all well locking your makeup in place all day long.
It features an oil and paraben free formula that contains a high-tech mattifying blend of Veegum (a natural clay derivative) and Silica which can absorb up to 3x its weight in oil.
The Optical Illusion Complexion Primer ($38 CAD) is a stunning velvety soft, lightweight primer that instantly blurs flaws and gives you a perfected complexion. It delivers a true optical illusion with a veil of scattered light and blurring pigments that give skin a soft-focus, airbrushed effect.
The cushioned formula glides on smoothly, filling in lines and smoothing out the skin to reduce the look of pores and fine lines. It features a slight pink tint that helps to illuminate the complexion before drying down to a translucent, matte finish and is formulated with argan, rosehip, and meadowfoam seed oils that provide moisturizing and antioxidant benefits.
The Self Adjusting Complexion Primer ($38 CAD) is a truly unique product with a colour correcting formula that features encapsulated beads of pigments that actually adjust to your skin tone. The beads are suspended inside the primer and they burst on the skin adapting as you apply it.
It can be worn alone as a base or under makeup as the first step in your routine. It is incredibly versatile as it releases more pigment the longer you blend. The formula features Vitamin E and corn powder to absorb oil and control shine and it perfects and blurs.
