Working in the beauty community gives you a front row seat to the ever-changing roster of new products, brands, and trends that pop up on the scene. To stay on top of things, it’s important to keep note of the products that either catch your eye or spark a mad frenzy.
I have a list that does just that – it lists each and every product that comes across my desk (or Instagram dashboard) so that I can make sure to cover the hottest topics and trends.
Two brands that seem to keep making waves and taking names are Pixi Beauty and Glossier. They have each made countless appearances on my list but yet I haven’t had the chance to explore what they have to offer! So I decided it was time to round up my must-try products from each brand and of course, ask for your suggestions and opinions on what to try first!
The first brand on my radar is Pixi Beauty, the brainchild of Petra Strand, a makeup artist and skincare maven with over 20 years of experience. Pixi was started in a small boutique in London England with Petra on the brink of a movement in which she wanted to bring out the natural beauty in all women. Her goal was to help them embrace their own skin by using products that made them look like themselves only better.
Petra created a brand that offers both skincare and cosmetics all of which are made from pure, skin-loving ingredients to help work with the skin you were given. All Pixi products are created to be multitasking, flaw-fixing, and youth-enhancing for a naturally radiant and rested look that can be easily achieved by women on the go.
Pixi is known for their signature green packaging and their infamous Glow Tonic that has taken the skincare world by storm and now that they have just entered Canada, I am keeping my eyes peeled for that green display! When I do finally track them down, I am dying to try these products –
Glow Tonic ($10 USD/$13 CAD) – an exfoliating, alcohol-free toner for smoother, brighter, clearer skin. Contains 5% glycolic acid, aloe vera, ginseng, and botanical extracts.
Beauty Sleep Cream ($24 USD/$32 CAD) – a nourishing night treatment to comfort and soothe skin. A fast absorbing, nutrient-rich essential to protect, nourish, and hydrate while you sleep. Contains mango butter, and oils of lemon, lavender, and bergamot.
Glowtion Day Dew ($22 USD/$30 CAD) – a lightweight, radiance boosting moisturizer that soothes while blurring imperfections and giving a lit from within glow. Lavender Oil calms while Kaolin purifies and Mica brightens.
Rose Oil Blend ($24 USD/$32 CAD) – a luxe, ultra-nourishing oil that rejuvenates, restores and renews skin’s luminosity. Includes a botanical blend of youth preserving oils that help improve skin’s elasticity, texture, and luminosity (sweet almond, rosehip, jojoba, pom seed, and rose geranium).
Overnight Glow Serum ($24 USD/$32 CAD) – a concentrated exfoliating gel that helps to reveal a more even and radiant skin tone overnight. 10% glycolic acid and arginine help reduce the appearance of fine lines and fade sun spots, cucumber, and aloe vera calm, and Vitamins A, C, E nourish.
Nourishing Cleansing Balm ($20 USD/$27 CAD) – a gentle cleansing balm that removes all traces of makeup as it nourishes. Rich balm to oil formula melts away makeup and impurities while also deep cleaning, plumping and soothing. Contains sweet almond oil, shea butter, and Vitamin E.
Liplift Max in Petal Ice ($14 USD/$20 CAD) – a hydrating, peptide-infused lip plumping gloss that nourishes as it enhances. Aloe vera heals, jojoba hydrates and chamomile soothes.
Natural Contour Powder ($20 USD/$27 CAD) – a buildable matte powder designed to effortlessly contour, sculpt and define. Packed with peptides, vitamins, aloe vera, super fruit and coffee extract.
The second brand that has been giving me serious vibes is Glossier. Started by the famous beauty website Into The Gloss and their team of beauty editors who have tried and tested just about everything. The Glossier girls aimed to create dream everyday products that didn’t yet exist and they wanted to make sure they actually worked. Glossier is all about beauty in real life, products that girls actually need on a day to day basis, products that form the backbone to your beauty routine.
Glossier is not yet available in Canada and their website sadly does not ship outside of the USA, but that certainly doesn’t stop me from dreaming about what I would buy first!
Priming Moisturizer Rich ($35 USD) – a dense cream for nourishing, comforting hydration. It is rich in ceramides and fatty acids that help to reinforce the skin’s barrier and lock in moisture. Contains a non-greasy blend of shea and murumuru butter for a lavish experience.
Milky Jelly Cleanser ($18 USD) – the ultimate daily face wash, a ph balanced creamy gel formula made with a blend of 5 skin conditioners to leave your face feeling healthy and soft but never tight. The main cleansing agent Poloxamer is used in contact lens solution so it is gentle enough to use on eyes. Also contains rosewater, aquaxyl, and pro vitamin B5.
Balm Dotcom ($12 USD) – a universal, hydrating skin salve that is packed with antioxidants and natural emollients to nourish and repair ultra-dry, irritated skin. The dense wax texture stays puts to seal in moisture and the formula contains lanolin, beeswax, castor seed oil, cupuaou fruit extract, rice bran and rosemary leaf.
Super Glow ($28 USD) – an intense Vitamin C and magnesium serum for that lit from within, well rested look. Part of the Supers Squad, a trio of concentrated serums designed to refill skin’s deficiencies, Super Glow evens skin tone, creates a light reflective complexion, brightens, smooths, and reduces dark spots.
Perfecting Skin Tint ($26 USD) – a super sheer, thin base that makes getting ready as simple as throwing on moisturizer. This tint evens out discolouration and leaves your face looking toned, smooth, and dewy. Comes in 5 shades.
Haloscope ($22 USD) – the first true dew effect highlighter. The dual delivery formula features an outer halo that is infused with genuine crystal extracts and a solid oil core of vitamin-rich moisturizers that give a hydrated, dewy glow. Comes in 3 shades.
Boy Brow ($16 USD) – an all-in-one brow fluffer, filler, and shaper that thickens and grooms. The creamy wax formula is inspired by hair pomade for a soft, flexible hold that doesn’t stiffen or flake. Comes in 3 shades and clear.
Stretch Concealer ($18 USD) – a new type of concealer that covers everything from dark circles to redness. It is formulated with elastic micro-waxes that move with the skin instead of caking up on top of it and nourishing oils that give skin a dewy, glowing finish.
Which brands or products are on your radar? Do you have any suggestions for what I should try from Pixi or Glossier? I’d love to hear them!
