First Impressions | Sleek MakeUp Nautical Collection

Hey Beauties!

I always find so much satisfaction in exploring different brands and discovering new gems that I can then share with you guys! In this beauty blogging world we hear so much about the same products that it’s really refreshing to shake things up a bit whether it’s with a brand we’ve never tried before or just one we haven’t used in awhile.

Sleek MakeUp is a brand that I have heard a lot about from bloggers across the pond and it was a brand I’ve always wanted to explore. I even asked for a few of their products in a swap I did last year and I absolutely loved them. So when Sleek reached out to ask if I would like to check out their newest collection, I immediately said yes. They ended up sending me their crazy adorable Nautical Collection as well as a few bits and pieces from their permanent line.

What Is Sleek MakeUp?

Sleek is a makeup line with a bit of a twist, they specialize in creating incredible quality products that are suitable for every single skin tone from the absolute fairest of fair tones to the deepest of dark complexions. They made a name for themselves by being one of the only brands to offer products for darker complexions that were incredibly pigmented and of the best quality while still being affordable and available to the average customer.

The Nautical Collection

Sleek is known for their increasingly creative seasonal campaigns like the past collections themed on things like candy, Arabian nights and the garden of Eden. This year they were inspired by “the sparkling mysterious oceans of the world” and aimed to “bring together the colours of clear blue seas and golden glamorous beaches” in their Nautical Collection.

The collection consists of 3 pieces, the Calm Before The Storm I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette, the Santa Marina Blush By 3 Palette and the Reddy To Sail True Colour Lipstick. The full collection retails for only $29.99 USD or you can buy each piece separately for $14.99, $11.99 and $7.49.

The Calm Before The Storm I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette is my personal favourite part of the collection. Sleek is infamous for their I-Divine palettes, they always contain 12 curated shades based around a specific theme. They are filled with a beautiful mixture of colours as well as an array of textures and finishes. I have the Vintage Romance palette and it is one of my absolute favourite palettes purely because of how pigmented the shadows are.

The Calm Before The Storm palette is no exception, it features 12 aquatic shades from a bright tropical blue, an ultra marine, a sea green to a burnt orange and a taupe. It is such a well thought out palette, it has all of the base neutrals and crease colours that you could need as well as the vibrant pops of colour. There are mattes, satins and shimmer shadows, all of which are gorgeously creamy and smooth. They all feel like butter to the touch and blend out seamlessly.

As you can see in the swatches above (no primer used) every shadow is absolutely stunning. They are all intensely pigmented and bright. This palette has just about every shade of blue you could ever need and the burnt orange is incredible.

The Blush By 3 in the shade Santa Marina is another classic Sleek product. I have their Blush By 3 in the shade Pink Lemonade from a previous collection and they have quite a few more shades. Each Blush By 3 palette contains three blushes that vary in shade, texture and formula but that all work together and accent each other perfectly.

The Santa Marina trio contains 3 powder powder blushes in Calypso Island (shimmer), Phoenix Sand (shimmer) and Coral Dune (matte). All three have a peachy/coral base but each have their own tones and accents. One is a true peach, the next is a light nude peach and the last is berry toned. All three are beautifully and intensely pigmented (use a light hand!) but the middle shade is very light and might not show up on many skin tones.

Sleek also sent me one of their Creme to Powder Blushes in the shade Pink Peony ($8.99 USD). Their Creme to Powder Blushes come in 6 shades all of which are vibrant and colourful, Pink Peony is a beautiful fuchsia with a purple undertone. It is so intensely pigmented that a tiny tiny bit can go a long way and it might even seem a little scary at first. Once blended it leaves a lovely pink flush with a dewy finish but a powdery feel. When set with a powder, it lasts a good 7 hours before fading.

The True Colour Lipstick in the shade Reddy to Sail is a beautiful, vibrant orange based red. The True Colour Lipsticks have a cream formula with a semi matte finish. They are infused with Vitamin E to keep lips hydrated and you can tell because they feel super creamy and comfortable on. They only last around 4 hours without eating before you need to reapply.

Lastly, Sleek sent over two of their Eau La La Liners in Noir and Cobalt Blue ($7.49 USD). The Eau La La Liners are wooden eyeliner pencils that come in 20 shades, they are richly pigmented and apply almost opaque in one swipe. Their semi-matte finish leads to a dry texture that doesn’t move, fade, migrate, smudge or flake. However, they are too dry to use on the waterline and they tug just a little bit.

Overall I was very happy with the Sleek MakeUp products I had the chance to try and I would definitely try other things from the range. If you want to try out Sleek MakeUp, you can purchase anything from their website and shipping is not too bad! They have such amazing products at such affordable rates so I would definitely recommend them!

What Sleek product would you want to try?

Ooh, what a gorgeous collection! Love the blue and green shades. I'm a huge fan of Sleek blushes (such a fab budget option!) and I just got my first Sleek shadow palette at IMATS and can't wait to use it :)
