The NYX Nation | Exploring NYX’s Best Concealers

Hey Beauties!

I have been a massive NYX Cosmetics fan for as long as I can possibly remember. I have been ordering their products from websites like BeautyJoint and having them shipped to Canada for the past couple of years but the time has come when I ( & you!) will no longer have to pay exorbitant shipping fees.

NYX is making the big move up north and with their website launch and grand opening of their first ever retail store (in Toronto!) coming up in the next couple of weeks, I thought I would put together a few posts on my favourite NYX products to celebrate.

First up, I want to talk all about my favourite NYX concealers, I am a big fan of NYX’s face  products and their concealers have been a staple in my makeup collection for the longest time. You might even remember my review of the HD Photogenic Concealer way back in June 2014 and if you do high five for being amazing!

NYX has an amazing range of concealing products with at least one for just about every possible concealing need from correcting and camouflaging to contouring and highlighting. Every product comes with an impressive shade range that without a doubt has an option for every skin tone. Quite a few even come in the key colour correcting shades (green, orange, yellow and purple) and that is not something you ever see in mainstream makeup. NYX seems to know how to perfectly bridge the gap between casual everyday cosmetics and the world of artists and costume makeup.

My three absolute favourite concealers from NYX all serve a different purpose in my routine but at least one of them gets used every single day.

The Above & Beyond Full Coverage Concealer retails for $6.99 and is a heavy duty full coverage concealer designed to battle blemishes, dark circles, bruises and anything else that you need to banish. This thick cream concealer comes in 11 shades including a green (for covering redness), a yellow (for brightening dull skin), an orange (for dark spots) and a purple (for sallow skin or yellow bruises).

Each little pot contains a rich creamy concealer that is absolutely packed with pigment, a tiny little bit will cover more than you need to so a full pot will last you for ages and ages. Despite it’s thick consistency, this full coverage cream blends out beautifully and feels incredibly lightweight on the skin. It layers nicely with no bunching or issues with transfer as long as each layer is blended first. It also has no issues with creasing if set with powder. Once set, it is practically budge proof and will stay proof for 8 hours.

Tip – I personally love to use the Flawless Concealer Brush from E.L.F. to apply and blend out this concealer. If you have dry skin, warm up this product on the back of your hand before applying it.

The Dark Circle Concealer retails for $7.99 and is another gorgeous cream based concealer but this one is solely intended for covering up those pesky dark circles under our eyes. It comes in 4 shades (fair, light, medium and deep) and each shade contains a concentrated mixture of both orange and skin tone pigments to ensure the most natural coverage. It is formulated with coconut oil to deliver the right amount of hydration that will make sure creasing will never occur.

The Dark Circle Concealer has almost an identical formula to the last concealer, it is thick and creamy but incredibly easy to apply, blend and wear throughout the day. It has buildable full coverage and when set with a powder, it will last all day long.

Tip – Choose the shade of this concealer based on the severity of your dark circles, I personally float between light and medium.

The HD Photogenic Conceal Wand retails for $6.99 and is one of NYX’s best selling products for good reason. It comes in 11 shades including the same colour correcting shades as the first concealer. It is a thin, lightweight concealer that comes in a plastic tube with a classic doe foot applicator – perfect for applying straight to the face and under the eyes. It offers medium coverage with the ability to layer and build upon the opacity.

This creamy liquid concealer is non-comedogenic, talc free and paraben free and the “HD” factor means it will look amazing on camera with no flashback. It dries to a semi-matte finish and when set with a powder will last at least 7 hours.

Tip – This concealer is slightly dry so make sure to apply a good eye cream before you do your makeup. It will glide on and look gorgeous on hydrated eyes.

As you can see NYX has a concealer for every possible need and concealer junkies like me have a million options to play with. All three of these concealers are absolute gems that I would miss dearly if they were not in my collection. NYX offers you incredible quality products at an amazing price point that really can’t be beat no matter what your needs are. I currently carry both the Dark Circle Concealer and the Above & Beyond Concealer in multiple shades in my professional kit because they are just that good.

If you are looking for a new concealer or just want to explore what NYX has to offer, I highly suggest you check out these products. Also, make sure to check out NYX’s new website for updates on the Canadian launch and keep your eyes peeled for displays popping up at your local Rexall, London Drugs or Jean Coutu.

It's fantastic, it does the job just as well as more expensive options
