With the weather starting to change – it’s currently freezing here, I’m bundled up in a blanket – it is so important to amp up the amount of hydration and nourishment we are giving our skin. It’s about this time of year that my psoriasis and eczema likes to make itself known so I know that I need to ditch the light weight exfoliants and body lotions for the heavyweight sugar scrubs and body butters.
I recently discovered a new sugar scrub from Flora Body Care that has quickly become a staple and since I am practically finished with the bag already I knew I had to share it with you.
Flora Body Care is a homegrown, cruelty free company based in Canada but born from a trip to Bali Indonesia. On the back of each scrub it says “it all started with a cup of curiosity, a dash of dreams and a pound of passion. A solo girl travelling around the world discovering & collecting the most nourishing ingredients to bring you Flora Body Care.” Flora’s products radiate this message and are obviously influenced by those travels because everything is easily sourced and responsibly made.
Flora Body Care offers two different scrubs – Vanilla Coconut and Coffee Hazelnut. Both Flora scrubs are handcrafted from all natural ingredients and the Vanilla Coconut includes 2 different kinds of sugar, sea salt and dried coconut flakes. Those ingredients are combined with coconut oil and enhanced with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E for the most nourishing experience your skin has ever had.
Sugar scrubs can do amazing things to your body from the basics of exfoliating dead skin and hydrating deep down to more intensive treatments like targeting cellulite and stretch marks, clearing acne and healing psoriasis and eczema. There are a million benefits from such a simple concoction but I love that Flora’s includes Aloe Vera and Vitamin E because they take it one step further by helping to repair super dry skin, even out skin tone and give a healthy glow. It’s also amazing that all Flora scrubs are completely free from Parabens, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, Synthetic Dyes, Mineral Oils or Aluminum.
The Fine Print
The Vanilla Coconut scrub is such a treat to use, it smells absolutely divine and feels wonderful going on. Some sugar scrubs can be too gentle and some can be way too harsh, Flora’s version has just enough coarse particles in it to really scrub away all of the dead skin but they are small enough that it doesn’t hurt. The scrub looks and feels like it has been super finely milled and that is something I haven’t seen in a scrub before. Most scrubs I have used in the past have been made up of chunky coarse pieces that really eat away at your skin. I never knew how much I needed a finer scrub until I tried this one.
Application & How To Use
I like to use the Vanilla Coconut scrub at least twice a week. I start off by applying it to slightly wet skin and I work in small sections, one at a time. I apply a small amount – about 1 tablespoon – to whatever body part I am working on and then rub it into the skin in circular motions. I think it’s key that you really buff the scrub into the skin to get the best results. I also focus extra product and attention on my patches of psoriasis. I work my way around my body and then let it sit for 5-10 minutes so that all of the goodness can really soak in. I will use that extra time to shampoo my hair or even apply a hair mask. Once time is up, I simply rinse off and my skin is left feeling baby soft and super smooth.
I have been so impressed by the Vanilla Coconut scrub from Flora Body Care, it has replaced my other sugar scrubs and I need to pick up a few backups soon because I’m almost out! I genuinely think that everybody can use a good sugar scrub in their lives and Flora is the best I have tried.
Take a chance and give Flora Body Care a try! Their scrubs retail for $16.49 CAD and can be purchased on their website!
