Monthly Favourites | May 2015

Hey Beauties!

Can you believe it’s already June? I feel it was Christmas just last week, this year has been seriously flying by. My brain might just be confused because the weather is so ridiculous right now and some days it feel like fall and the next feels like the middle of summer.

This past month I have discovered a few new addictions and revisited a couple old favourites. I have really been experimenting with new styles of makeup and stepping outside my comfort zone so it has been fun to figure out what I really love above all else. Keep reading to see what my favourite things in beauty and fashion were over the past month.

1. L’oreal La Palette Nude Collection –  L’oreal’s answer to the Naked Palette for a much more affordable price. While still high for the drugstore, it is fantastic quality and entirely worth every penny. There is a warm tone option and a cool tone option with ten shades in matte, satin and shimmer formulas, all of which are creamy and smooth. Full review of both palettes here and here

2. L’oreal Infallible Shadow in Hourglass Beige – I have finally jumped on the bandwagon and discovered how insanely gorgeous these Infallible shadows are. They are not the typical eyeshadow with more of a pressed pigment formulation, they give off intense colour payoff and a metallic sheen to the lid. Hourglass Beige is the perfect inner corner highlight or transforming shade for over the inner third of the lid. It brings a gorgeous boost of brightness that can’t be beat. I now have my eyes on a few more shades!

3. NYX Butter Gloss in Tiramisu – Another product that has taken me lightyears to discover, way after everyone else in the universe. The Butter Glosses are gorgeously creamy with beautiful shades and great pigmentation. These actually give a nice wash of colour and feel ultra comfortable. They are not sticky or too tacky but just about perfect. Tiramisu is a pinky brown that looks amazing over a nude lip liner and do I even have to mention that they smell like vanilla cake batter? So yummy!

4. Jordana Modern Matte Lipstick in Matte Innocent – I think we all love a matte lip but hate how they feel on. The dry and itchy feeling of a matte lipstick is just not at all pleasant but these Jordana lipsticks somehow managed to get a matte look without any of that uncomfortable feeling. These lipstick are creamy and smooth and come in gorgeous shades. Matte Innocent is just one of their nude shades – they are probably at least 6 – and it is the perfect darker peachy nude with a bit of brown.

5. Gerard Cosmetics Lipstick in Underground – You might have noticed that I’m slightly obsessed with darker nude and mauve lip colours right now and this one takes it a step farther. Underground is a stunning mauve lipstick with a taupey grey base. The combination of tones create a seriously gorgeous lipstick that might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I am obsessed. I really love the Gerard lipstick formula and if you want to read more about it, check out this post.

6. Essie’s Go Ginza Nail Polish – I recently had my acrylics removed and I am trying to give my nails a little bit of time to heal before I put on another pair so I have gone back to that au naturel nail life. After giving my nails a couple of weeks without polish I decided that needed some help and chose Go Ginza to bring some life back to my hands. I haven’t stopped wearing it since. It is the perfect summer shade with a bit of nude and a bit of lilac.

7. Gladiator Sandals from Ardene – I have been absolutely obsessed with these tan gladiator sandals from Ardene because they go with absolutely every outfit but they are also a bit more unique than my other sandals. They have braided pieces that weave through the straps and gold accents that make them really pop.

What were your favourites this past month? Have you tried any of my favourites?
