Annabelle is hands down one of my favourite brands both affordable and high end, every product I have ever tried has been incredible, so you can imagine my excitement when a few of their newest releases for Spring 2015 popped into my mailbox. I thought I would shake things up a bit and stray from the typical release or review post and do a full look with the new products so I can tell AND show you how they perform.
I decided to keep the look relatively simple to showcase the products at their most natural state. I followed my normal foundation routine using a mineral powder and liquid concealer. I then filled in my eyebrows and used a simple champagne shimmer on my eyelids before finishing it off with a wing and mascara.
The first product I wanted to try was the infamous Biggy Bronzer*($11.95), a cult fave of many makeup lovers and award winning to boot, this beauty was calling my name. The Biggy bronzer comes by its name rightfully as it comes in a huge compact with 15 grams of product so you will never run out. It comes in 3 stunning shades – Haute Gold, Dark Gold and now Matte Gold. All three come with 3 perfectly coordinated shades of bronze and gold in a striped pattern that are designed to blend together to give the perfect natural tan. You can use the shades individually or swirl them together to achieve the ideal shade for any skin tone. It ends up being a nice cool toned bronze without any trace of orange.
The bronzer itself is a mineral based formula that is silky smooth, soft and creamy with hardly any powder kickoff. It is nicely pigmented and can be built up easily without looking muddy or cakey because it blends like a dream. I applied a few layers and each one blended seamlessly into the one before. The Biggy bronzer gave me a lovely subtle contour and a warm glowing complexion with the perfect hint of colour. It felt incredibly lightweight and lasted for over 6 hours. It’s important to make note that the Biggy Bronzer is oil free, paraben free, perfume free, gluten free and hypoallergenic.
Next up to the bat was the gorgeous Blushon in Lotus*($7.95). The Blushon line has 10 shades – 5 new – that range from beiges and mauves to pinks and corals in both matte and shimmer formulas. They come in lovely simple black plastic packaging that feels well made and sturdy. The Blushon formula is really gorgeous, the powder is very fine and is so smooth that it almost feels like a cream – a quality it gets from the talc and mineral oil in the formula. They are really nicely pigmented and can be built up and blended without any patchiness or transfer. They feel soft and velvety on the cheeks and last for over 6 hours without fading. They are so easy to apply and they blend beautifully with the bronzer to give a stunning luminous flush to the cheeks.
Last but certainly not least are the Lipsie Lip Balms* ($4.95). The Lipsie balms are scented retractable lip balm crayons that originally came out over the holidays as a limited edition treat but they were so successful that they are now a permanent part of the collection. They come in 12 delicious scents/shades from lime and strawberry to cupcake and cotton candy. Each scent comes in a colour coordinated tube with adorable cartoon illustrations that will make anyone smile.
I have the shades Lychee – a peachy nude – and Cherry – a true bright red – and they are both gorgeous. The Lipsies provide a sheer wash of colour with a nice glossy sheen and the darker colours offer a bit more coverage. They are incredibly comfortable and surprisingly moisturizing and make your lips feel a little bit healthier. They apply smoothly and don’t cling too much to dry patches. They are also very lightweight and not at all sticky. They last a good 2-3 hours and will come off if you eat but they leave a nice hydrating feeling behind.
Overall I was really happy with the finished look, my skin was glowing and my lips were softly tinted while feeling well hydrated. I loved every one of these products but I would say the blush was my favourite – I have already bought another!
I highly recommend all of Annabelle’s collection, every item is super affordable for really great quality and I have yet to be disappointed by anything they offer.
