The Holiday Gift Guide | Shop Local

Hey Beauties!

The beauty of the Christmas season is the chance to be able to give someone you love a heartfelt gift. That incredible moment when you see the smile on their face is what Christmas is all about. Sometimes you want to put a little bit of extra effort into what you give and the best way to do that is to take the time to find something that is one of a kind. The best places to find those little gems are the small businesses and boutiques in your community, so I decided to team up with social media masterminds The Generator and shop local to create a gift guide from four of my favourite local shops in Hamilton.

Sexton In The City

Sexton In The City is truly a one of a kind boutique located in Westdale, it is the brainchild of owner Natalie Sexton who has worked in the beauty & fashion industry for over a decade with history in styling and television. It is the destination for adding a little bit of glamour to any ensemble and to explore the latest trends in beauty with Natalie’s own line of makeup! My picks from Sexton In The City are:

1. Statement Necklace – $30 – $40

2. 2 in 1 Cape & Blanket Scarf – $30

3. BB Cream – $34

4. Powder Blush – $20

Dakota Mae Boutique & Beauty Bar

Dakota Mae is a shop that is incredibly close to my heart and it is somewhere that I will always return to and always recommend. Dakota Mae is run by it’s namesake owner Dakota Mae Nicolle, who is one of the most inspiring people I have ever met. Her boutique is the place where any women of any shape, size or age can find something that will make her feel beautiful. Dakota is committed to finding unique items that incorporate currents trends while still remaining of the highest quality. My picks from Dakota Mae are:

1. Floppy Hat – $40

2. Fleece Lined Leggings – $25

3. Embellished Headband – $18

4. Lulu Decorative Tattoos – $28

White Elephant

White Elephant is a truly amazing shop that has recently expanded to it’s second location. Owners Jane and Hollie have created a true representation of Canadian culture with their carefully curated collection of hand created and Canadian made products. They take the time to bring light to local artists and small businesses. My picks from White Elephant are:

1. Wool Headband – $38

2. Rosebud Earrings – $22

3. Cat Mug – $35

4. Cat Necklace & Earrings – $15 & $22

Girl On The Wing

Girl On The Wing is one of my absolute favourite shops in the entire world, it is owned by the beautiful Whitney McMeekin, who has collected vintage and vintage inspired goodies from all over the world. She always finds the most unique and aesthetically beautiful pieces that you just can’t find anywhere else. My picks from Girl On The Wing are:

1. Wool Turban – $60

2. Perk Naturals Scrubs – $9 – $18

3. HanselfromBasel Tights – $32
