For as long as I can remember, I have been a true girly girl at heart and I have loved to play with makeup and clothing. Some of my most impressionable memories from my childhood are of watching my Nana apply her lipstick, painting my nails with magic markers and going to Caryl Baker to get my makeup done for my birthday. When I was finally old enough to start buying my own beauty items, my first choice was a terrible purple lipstick followed by plenty of The Colour Institute mega palettes but I like to think my tastes have improved since then.
I can vividly recall the first year of high school when I really started to explore my passion and my very first trip to Sephora. I only bought one thing because I was so overwhelmed and I had no idea what anything was, but I knew what I wanted and I ran straight for it. That first purchase just happened to be Benefit Cosmetics’ High Brow highlighting pencil and my choice may or may not have been influenced by the fact that it was Ashley Tisdale’s – my then idol – “makeup must have” in some teen magazine. That pencil sat on my dresser in some sort of shrine for months and I used it everyday following Ashley’s instructions by the book. That little pencil was the beginning of my complete and utter obsession with makeup and my love affair with Benefit Cosmetics.
For those tough years of not knowing who I really was and having massive insecurities weighing down my shoulders, I had makeup to rely on. No matter how bad I felt, I knew I could turn to my makeup and it would help to lift my spirits. There was and still is something so magical about how makeup can help to enhance the true beauty you hold within and bring you out of your shell. I always felt like Benefit really understood the true magic of makeup and that they genuinely made products to help women embrace their true selves.
It goes without saying that I have had many Benefit products in my life and there are a million more on my wish list because they are the brand that I will always return to and will always recommend. When a few of my beauty loving friends and I got together and talked about having a Christmas themed girls night, I knew I wanted to incorporate Benefit in some way because what girls night is complete without makeup, glitter and a little pampering? With a lot of brainstorming, a lot of creativity and over a month of planning I finally figured out that I wanted to throw the ultimate girls night in, where we could get together, be ourselves and learn to express our beauty through a brand that has always helped me. I was so incredibly blessed to be able to speak with some beautiful ladies from Benefit at this years Spark Sessions conference and they were so kind to offer to help me create the ultimate Benefit inspired bash!
The night was truly magical with so many beautiful girls in attendance, we all got comfy in our Christmas PJ’s to get our eyebrows made over from start to finish. There was a little bit of shaping followed by a whole lot of playing with Benefit’s amazing eyebrow products. We were lucky enough to have the chance to test out the Gimme Brow Shaping Gel, the Instant Brow Pencil, the Brow Zings Brow Palette and the High Brow Highlighting Pencil. Everyone had the chance to test out each product and play around with the different shades. There was a product for every personality and every occassion, we all shared our eyebrow tips and tricks and some people discovered their new favourite eyebrow products. I also had plenty of other Benefit products on hand because no Benefit party is complete without some blush, mascara, eyeliner and highlighter.
I wanted to inject a little bit of Benefit into every aspect of the night so I made sure there were plenty of yummy treats in Benefit pink to snack on while we watched a little Rudolph, sang to some Christmas Carols and played some charades. It was so much fun to get together with other bloggers from around the area and get to share a special experience that we could all enjoy and remember for years to come.
Then to top it all off, we had a pretty awesome Benefit themed photo booth to showcase those amazing eyebrows!
It was an incredible dream come true to celebrate beauty, self-expression, confidence and friendship with a brand that has had such an impact on who I am today. I am so glad that everyone got to pamper themselves and celebrate their gorgeous eyebrows with Benefit’s help. I know that my eyebrows can’t go a day with their Gimme Brow and now some lovely ladies can say that too! Thank you so much to everyone who attended and to my beautiful friends for all their help. The biggest of thank yous to Ruth and Viviana not only for the product and props but for their confidence in my event and their kindness.
Check out Amanda’s post on the night!
For the party, I wore mostly Benefit products including the Pore-fessional powder, Rockateur blush, Gimme Brow in light, Brow Zings in medium, They’re Real Mascara and Eyeliner, and Watts Up Highlighter.
