Hello, my name is Courtney and I am a lipstick addict. It’s true and I just can’t hide it. I love lipstick, any shade, any brand, any formula, I will try it and I will collect it. Beauty is my passion but at the heart of that passion is an obsession with lipstick, so when Lip Monthly contacted me I knew I had to give their subscription service a try. What could possibly be better than brand new lip products delivered to you every month?
Lip Monthly is a relatively new subscription service based in the US but that ships to Canada and that is intended to help you discover the best of lipsticks, lip stains, lip glosses, lip balms and more. For only $10 a month you receive 2-3 full sized products as well as
2-3 sample sized products. Sounds like heaven to a lip lover right?
In my September Fall Lip Monthly bag* I received 5 products, 4 of which seem to be full sized. My favourite product is the Makeup by Cherimoya Matte Lip Crayon* ($8) in the shade Fig, a gorgeous bright plum that is perfect for fall. I also liked the Eco Lips Fair Trade Lip Balm* ($3.49) in Strawberry Kiwi. Next up is the Makeup by Cherimoya Lip and Eye Retractable Pencil* ($3.99) in the shade Latte, which is a beautiful bronze that I have loved using to line my eyes on more natural days. Next is the Jessie’s Girl Cosmetics Nail Polish* ($3.99) in a bright peachy pink shade and lastly is the Purlisse Daily Moisturizer* ($18 full size).
Overall, I received 5 great products at a decent value ($10 cost – $20ish value) but to be honest I was a bit disappointed. For a subscription service that is based primarily on lip products, I expected to receive more of them. Out of all 5 products only 2 were truly for the lips. While the Lip and Eye liner is gorgeous, the shade is not usable on the lips, if they had chosen a different shade it may have worked out better. Additionally, the nail polish is awesome but the shade is completely wrong for a fall themed bag. I will definitely get use out of all the products but I was left a bit underwhelmed so I’m on the fence. I think I may give it another try and order the November bag.
Have any of you tried Lip Monthly?
