Review | Amie Skincare

Skincare is one of the most confusing and down right frustrating parts of every girls’ ( and boys) life. There are so many options, methods and contraptions and it all comes down to skin types and budgets. But sometimes it gets to be all too much and you just need to bring it back to the basics. Back to the products that are simple but effective, to the products that are truly friends to your skin. Well, for me that is where Amie* skincare comes in.

Amie* is a British brand created by skincare and beauty maven Fiona Parkhouse (former Estee Lauder executive) when her daughter was in need of a skincare solution. Fiona teamed up with leading dermatologists to create a system that was based on natural ingredients that really work. The range was lovingly created with thoughtful purpose to help women achieve healthy, happy skin no matter their skin type or age. Amie’s products are all built with a foundation of the finest quality plant and botanical extracts that help to balance skin and keep it clear – naturally. All of the products are formulated without any harsh chemicals, parabens, mineral oils, petrochemicals or animal extracts that will irritate or negatively impact your skin. Additionally the range is completely suitable for vegans, it is not tested on animals and the best bit is it is ridiculously affordable!

The Amie range contains 8 products ( ranging from $6 – $12), 4 of which were sent to me to test out and now I want to tell you all about them.

Radiant Dawn Exfoliating Daily Wash ($10) – Contains green apple, lemon and exfoliating blueberry seeds and is soap and oil free. I love this cleanser because it is an incredibly gentle gel that lathers up easily and feels quite refreshing on the skin. I don’t typically like cleansers with beads in them but the small seeds in this cleanser are actually very gentle but really effective. Daily use leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh but never stripped or overworked. It has become my new favourite!

Morning Light Hydrating Daily Moisturizer ($12) – Contains rose extract, rosehip seed oil and mallow. This moisturizer is another winner in the range, it is a lightweight gel that packs a punch with hydration and sinks in quickly. It doesn’t leave any residue and a little bit goes a long way. The rose extract is incredibly soothing and feels cooling on the skin.

Morning Dew Matte Finish Moisturizer ($12) – Contains rosehip, bilberry and Vitamin E. Now I have dry skin so I couldn’t test this out for myself but I gave it to my friend who has oily skin and she quite liked it. It provided her with ample hydration without making her greasy and she said it worked well as a base under makeup and did help with her oiliness.

Spring Clean Deep Cleansing Mask ($12) – Contains peppermint and lime extracts. This mask was a bit of a miss for me. I will say that it is amazing at cleaning out those pores and bringing dirt to the surface and it made my skin feel clear, clean and super smooth. Unfortunately, I think my skin was just a bit too sensitive for it’s powerful abilities because it burned a little bit. However, my friend with the oily skin did not experience any burning instead saying it felt cooling and refreshing.

Overall, I genuinely think that Amie is a true gem in the skincare world and it is one of the only ranges with a heart and soul behind the brand. I think women of all ages and skin types can appreciate the focus on natural ingredients that truly deliver results. The Amie range is available exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart and I think everyone should pick up at least one item to test out.
