Overnight Makeup & Toiletry Bag Essentials

I am constantly on the move from one end of the city to another, whether it’s a girls night in with Courtney or a night at my boyfriend’s house. I always find myself scrambling last minute to pack my makeup and toiletries for overnight stays. Recently, I decided to split my products into two separate makeup bags, one for mostly hygienic/toiletry products (which I now leave packed at all times) and the second strictly for cosmetics.

Cosmetic Bag

I like to pack light and stick to the bare essentials when it comes to my makeup.

My Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Nude is always a must in my everyday beauty routine, there is no way I’m leaving without it! For any dark circles after a long night, I pack my Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse Foundation in Classic Ivory….call me crazy but I love using it as a concealer. To set the concealer, I use the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Creamy Natural. As for cheeks, I am totally in love with this Bourjois blush in Rose de Jaspe...seriously, if I could only use one blush for the rest of my life it would be this one! It’s compact size and packaging is definitely a bonus when packing.

For my eyebrows, I just use a basic Sephora eyebrow pencil in Midnight Brown. I tight line my eyes with my Tarte EmphasEYES waterproof clay liner in black, applying it with a basic black eyeliner pencil. To finish off this “morning after” look literally, I use the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.

For my toiletries, I tend to keep them fully stocked!

A girl cannot forget the basics like a toothbrush, razor, hair ties, lip balm, etc. I also picked up some travel size necessities like shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I used sample size containers to pack my everyday face and eye cream and a ziplock bag to store a few makeup wipes. I also packed my handy dandy Pop-Up Travel Brush from Sephora and my Cake Dry Shampoo for Darker Hues.  I picked up this Sonia Kashuk Eye Palette to keep in my toiletry kit, because I almost always forget to pack eyeshadow. It’s also great to keep on hand just in case there is a change in plans and you need to apply a bit more makeup.  I love this palette since it has a wide variety of colours and they are super pigmented.

I've also divided my stuff into two bags for necessities and cosmetics – makes it so much easier!

For sure, it's super handy! It's so much easier to find all your things instead of digging through one big makeup bag.

Thanks Stephanie, I picked up both from Target recently. Oh yes, it's the worst when you forget things. You should try keeping one toiletry kit packed and ready, it has worked well for me. Hope you have a great trip!

Hi Rachel,Thanks for checking out our blog! That's great, I find the best way to start organising your makeup and toiletry items is to make a list of your absolute essentials and slowly start adding in some of your other go-to products. This definitely helps you to pack a bit lighter. Hope this was helpful for you!
