The Balm is one those brands that seems to come out of nowhere and take over the industry overnight. I’d only ever seen a few bits in one store and then all of a sudden they were all over the Blogosphere and Youtube. So naturally I was dying to try them and I snapped up a few bits when they were on Hautelook. The Balm has a collection of amazingly unique products – that you can’t find anywhere else on the market – that span over makeup, skincare, haircare and tools. The best bit is they all come in stunning vintage inspired packaging that I absolutely adore.

My favourite beauty product to buy is blush so I wanted to try out a few of their cheek offerings. I picked up two of the Instain blushes in Houndstooth and Argyle, and I could not be more impressed, they are an incredibly smooth and buttery powder that is intensely pigmented, and they last for hours! I also picked up the well known Frat Boy blush and I can see why it is so popular, it is literally the perfect peachy pink. Then of course, I had to buy the infamous Mary Lou Manizer and her new friend Cindy Lou. These highlighters are nothing short of amazing, they pack a punch but blend out beautifully and I love the warm pinky tone of Cindy Lou as it is much more natural on my fair skin.
Lastly, I bit the “buying bases online” bullet and picked up the Balm Shelter Tinted Moisturizer in the shade lighter than light. I’ve not yet tried this for a full day but so far I am in love. First off, the shade is perfect! It is the best match to my skin that I have ever found, in any sort of base. It has a pink undertone that blends in beautifully so I don’t have to worry about looking too yellow or uneven, it just sinks right in while evening out any redness in my complexion. I can see this becoming my go-to base for the upcoming spring and summer months and I can’t wait to really test it out!
Have you tried anything from The Balm? Do you have any recommendations for me?
