The Spring Must Haves | Random

Spring is a funny time of year, don’t you think? The weather is still going completely crazy, snow then rain then sunshine and roses. It’s a bit of a confusion to the system and I have to drag myself out of the winter funk. To help me out, I like to give my house a bit of a makeover – swap out the wintery decor for brighter colours and flavours.

I always like to start with flowers because honestly what says spring better than a big bright bouquet – I think EVERY room needs one. Unfortunately, I cannot have real flowers because I have three little flower eating monsters known as cats. But, faux fleurs are just as good and I love to create my own design with individual stems and DIY vases. For when that fails, you can’t go wrong with an arrangement from Target.

While winter is prime time for candle burning, I like to bring out the sweeter, more floral scents for the beginning of spring. Bath and Body Works is my favourite but I also love the Scent Portfolio line at Target. Towards the end of spring, the candles all go into hiding so I can open ALL of my windows and not burn the house down.

And of course, my love for tea will never stop no matter the season – although I do wish they sold sugar cookie tea year round – but for Spring I like to bring out the lighter, sweeter teas like Skin Detox and Raspberry Leaf from Yogi.

It’s really quite amazing how just a few small changes can take the mood of your house to a whole new level. Add some springtime to your space and see what happens.

I'm bad with flowers! I bought a tulip plant the other week and it lasted 3 days. 🙁 Hopefully I live with my mum and she is a good gardener! What I like about Spring is the freedom to wear birght colours, even though I wear them in the Winter as well.
