Time For Lash Lift Off | Benefit Cosmetics BadGal BANG Mascara | Review & Demo

Time For Lash Lift Off | Benefit Cosmetics BadGal BANG Mascara | Review & Demo | labellesirene.ca

Hey Beauties!

When I get home at the end of a long day all I want to do is remove my makeup. As the hours go by, I find myself dying to take off my lipstick and remove my mascara, it always feels like my lashes have grown heavier and heavier as the day has progressed. I tend to prefer a ton of volume with my mascara and sometimes that means I end up with a pretty large dose of product on my lashes. No matter which one I use I always want to add more and more layers, which means more weight on my eyes.

Thankfully, those days are now in the past and I am not looking back! With Benefit Cosmetics' new outerspace inspired, ultra-lightweight mascara, I can go through an entire day without even thinking of tired eyes and heavy lashes.

The new BadGal BANG Mascara ($32 CAD/$24 USD) took 4 years to produce, taking the original BadGal Mascara to great new heights where no mascara has gone before - literally.

This "36hr full-blast volumizing mascara" is not only inspired by galactic, out of this world technology but it was literally created alongside rocket scientists who passed along some of their secrets!

BadGal BANG is unlike any other mascara ever created, it is bigger, badder and bolder with an intense pitch black formula, a sleek matte black tube, hot pink metallic accents and a big Slimpact Brush. The thin, streamlined brush is shaped to easily reach into the smallest inner corners and coat each individual lash on both top and bottom from root to the very tip. It features 300 soft half-cone shaped bristles to maximize product deposit while they help separate and lift the lashes.

The gravity defying formula is based on a triple threat of polymers, waxes and aero-particles, the perfect combo of which delivers instant volume. Aero-particles are one of the lightest known materials derived directly from space technology, where they use it as weightless insulation. It is a super low density, high porosity (empty space-think coral or sponges) ingredient meaning it weighs next to nothing but has the ability to layer and build endlessly for full, fluffy, voluminous lashes.

The formula is thin, flexible and easy to apply. It effortlessly captures every individual lash (even the stubborn ones) and makes them appear thicker, darker and fuller in just one layer. From that point on you can build them up with as many layers as you want and as they grow the weight won't change at all. It also contains Pro Vitamin B5 which is known to fuel the thickness and strength of lashes, it also helps prevent the mascara from drying out or becoming crunchy as you layer.

It's incredibly refreshing to see so much length, volume and lift on my sparse, thin lashes without any of the weight or tired eyes that come from other mascaras. I love that I can customize how much volume I want and it always looks and feels feather-light.

BadGal BANG is truly one-of-a-kind and it gives out-of-this-world results that I can't fault. Such an amazing job Benefit!

10 Must Have Holy Grail Makeup Brushes For Face & Eyes | Overview, Comparisons & Suggestions

10 Must Have Holy Grail Makeup Brushes For Face & Eyes | Overview, Comparisons & Suggestions | labellesirene.ca

Hey Beauties!

What is an artist without their brushes?

Whether you are an experienced makeup guru, a completely green gal or somewhere in between you need a good set of brushes to help you work your magic. When it comes to makeup, fingers can only do so much, you need to equip yourself with all of the right tools for the trade.

A really good set of brushes can make the most incredible difference in your makeup routine, from how quickly and efficiently you are able to apply your makeup to how well the products blend, mesh and sit on the skin. A good brush will give you a seamless, skin-like finish and allow you to build up the coverage you want. A bad brush will give you streaky, uneven foundation and patchy, textured skin.

I look at brushes as an investment, not only financially but in your makeup abilities. The more time and attention you pay to your brushes, in acquiring them and caring for them, the stronger and more confident you will become in your abilities.

With that in mind, I also don't believe that it is an investment that should cost you a million dollars. Not all brushes are created equal, especially when you consider how they are made, what they are made of and how long they last, but you do not need to spend a fortune on one individual brush.

There are some really incredible brushes at all sorts of price ranges. Some of my favourites are from affordable brands like Morphe, Wet n' Wild and Luxie but I also love more mid-range brands like Sephora, Smith, and Smashbox. I fully believe that a brush that costs $15 can be just as amazing as a brush that costs $50.

In order to keep my collection a little more on the affordable side, I try to space my purchases out over time and I often buy the less expensive ones in bulk to avoid extra charges and duties from companies such as Morphe

Another trick to remember is that brushes are multipurpose. Just because a brush might have a specific use listed on it does not mean that you must use it for that purpose. You can use one brush for 3 different tasks and you can come up with your very own use that someone might not even consider.

Must Have Face Brushes

1. The Bronzing Paddle Brush - The Morphe M527 ($16 USD)This brush is the perfect tool to create a soft wash of bronzer around the perimeter of the face. The full, luxurious tapered head and pinched ferrule give you controlled placement and diffused color.

2. The Fan Brush - The Sephora Pro Fan ($35 CAD) - My secret weapon for chiseled cheekbones, which can also be used for a super precise highlight. I line it up against the ear to carve out a line.

3. The Duo-Fibre Brush - The Morphe M406 ($8 USD)A full sized, luxurious stippling brush with a duo fiber of synthetic and goat for the perfect amount of firmness and a feather-light touch at the tip. Stipple on foundation for a flawless finish or sweep on color for a diffused, natural look. I love this for blending together all of my products and buffing out any mistakes.

4. The Sheer Powder Brush - The Luxie 522 ($32 USD) - Designed to be a precise highlighting brush, I love it to softly lay powder onto the skin right where I need it. It helps lock my foundation in place without applying too much product.

5. The Highlighting Brush - The Morphe R36 ($8 USD)Flared, tapered natural brush that sweeps highlight precisely where you want it.

Must Have Eye Brushes

1. The Dense Buffing Brush - The Morphe E23 ($7 USD)A dense, domed blending brush for stronger crease color application or buffing away harsh lines. This is my favourite for buffing away all sorts of mistakes, lines, patchy spots etc.

2. The Fluffy Transition Brush - The Sephora Pro Smoky Crease ($27 CAD - This specific brush is no longer available but I have linked a very similar one. I love this shape for applying a really diffused transition colour and blending out the crease.

3. The Detailed Blending Brush - The Luxie 237 ($16 USD) - This tiny little brush is amazing for those who have smaller eyelids and thus a smaller canvas to work with. This can get right down in the orbital bone for a super defined crease.

4. The Lid Packing Brush - Morphe M153 ($2 USD) - A very simple but very important brush, the coarse hairs and flat packed shape are ideal for applying really pigmented rich colour onto the lid.

5. The Detail Pencil Brush - The Morphe M321 ($3 USD)This short, dense brush tapers to a defined point and wedges into the crease and outer “V” for strong, defined color. It’s perfect for cut crease looks and precise color placement.

Other Must Have Tools

truly believe that you can't possibly do your makeup without a beauty sponge or two. They are incredible multitaskings tools that can work with any medium and they also act as an eraser for any mistakes.

The classic Beauty Blender is always a fav but my personal choice is the L'Oreal Infallible Artist Blender ($10 CAD).

What does your brush collection look like? Do you like to build your collection slowly or in one fell swoop?

A Foundation Game Changer | NEW NARS Cosmetics Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation & Radiant Creamy Concealer | Review & Swatches

A Foundation Game Changer | NEW NARS Cosmetics Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation & Radiant Creamy Concealer | Review & Swatches | labellesirene.ca

Hey Beauties!

Long time no chat! Life has been a little bit crazy and I feel like I've been on a whirlwind that has just started to slow back down. So many new adventures have landed in my lap and I am so excited to share these new parts of my life. Until then, let's get back to talking about beauty - my favourite thing to do!

When it comes to foundations, I've always been a full coverage kind of girl. Even back in high school, I was always trying to add as much coverage as possible to cover every little blemish, freckle and scar. The difference between high school and now is that I've learned a lot more about makeup, how to apply it and how it should look. Meaning those cakey, over applied, badly blended foundation days are firmly in the past.

Not only have my techniques and skills changed but I have also learned to look for foundations that provide a lot of coverage without a lot weight or a lot of product. A difficult task when most full coverage foundations are inevitably heavy, thick and/or require a lot of layers to actually achieve that coverage you want.

Well, times have changed!! I don't know what was floating around in the beauty industry water but a number of brands have just come out with new innovative takes on a full coverage base.

NARS Cosmetics is the headliner of this new revolution with their new Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation ($60 CAD/$49 USD). It's an incredible, ultra-concentrated foundation that feels feather light and looks just like skin - perfected.

The Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation is one of the most interesting and satisfying foundations I have ever tried. It has so many aspects to its innovative formula that it's almost hard to keep straight, so let's break it down.

Formula & Shade Range

The NRL Foundation has a unique weightless texture that packs medium to full, buildable coverage in just a few drops of this breathable foundation. It is formulated with a Skin Optimizing Complex - a blend of raspberry, apple and watermelon extracts - that helps support skin's elastic fibres to smooth skin and improve texture over time for optimal radiance.

The thinner formula is built off of a translucent base that is then infused with specialized, micronized amino acid-coated pigments (that recognize skin tone and then replicate it) and mineral tone-balancing powders. These pigments and powders act like magnets and fuse with the skin to create the closest possible match. This also means you require less product to cover imperfections as the foundation will match your skin perfectly!

The intense payoff within each individual pigment and that ability to apply less product means you will never look cakey, heavy, dry or like your wearing a mask. But, watch out because the intensity of those pigments means if you apply too much, they will get stuck to texture or dry spots and not blend away properly.

Top Tip : start with just a couple of drops and apply with a damp beauty sponge in the centre of the face, blending out. Add more as you go but start small.

The range comes with 33 skin-matching shades, an incredible amount of options with multiple choices for every complexion from fair to very dark.

Wear Time & Performance

One of the top claims of the NRL foundation is superior wear time. They market the foundation as having 16 hour wear with a fade resistant, transfer resistant and sweat resistant formula.

I have never had the chance or the need to wear the foundation for 16 hours but I have worn it for 12 and each time I have done that, I have been more and more impressed! They say the foundation is formulated to improve skin's appearance hour by hour and that it will always look freshly applied and I have to agree! I always find myself looking in the mirror hours after I applied my makeup and it will like no time has passed at all. In fact, I think it actually looks better about an hour after you apply it, once the foundation has had the chance to warm up to your skin and adjust to it's perfect shade.

The foundation naturally sets down to a soft matte finish but it has a hint of a glow that makes you look naturally luminous. That glow tends to subtly increase as the day goes on but never to a point of oiliness or greasy skin. Personally, I have dry skin and I find that this foundation stays put, doesn't transfer, fade, or migrate throughout the day and it stays looking fresh without any dryness or separation.

Overall, I am completely obsessed with the Naturally Radiant Longwear Foundation, it pulls through on everything it claims and has given me the ability to have full coverage without the heavy feel or look that typically comes with it. I LOVE being able to cover up everything I want covered but still have people ask if I'm wearing anything at all because it meshes SO well with my own skin. It is the only foundation I have been wearing lately, apart from one other one that almost performs just as well, but I'll be sharing that one soon!

Alongside the release of the Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation, NARS also released an extension of their iconic, award-winning Radiant Creamy Concealers! ($37 CAD/ $30 USD) With the addition of 6 new shades there are now 22 options so you can find the perfect match to your foundation!

The concealers are described as having bendable, medium to full coverage with light diffusing technology that obscures imperfections, smooths skin and brightens.
