Makeup Dreams For The Organizational Hoarder | Make Up For Ever Artist Face Powders & Customizable Palette System | Review & Swatches

Makeup Dreams For The Organizational Hoarder | Make Up For Ever Artist Face Powders & Customizable Palette System | Review & Swatches | labellesirene.ca

Hey Beauties!

When it comes to powder face products I tend to hoard them resulting in a million and one compacts sitting in a drawer. I am always looking for the perfect contour powder, the perfect under-eye powder, the perfect highlight, and the perfect blush and that has lead to an over-the-top collection of products that take up way too much space.

In an ideal world, I would have all of my favourite powders in one portable, easy to store compact that I can obsessively organize to my hearts content. Well, the makeup gods must have heard my cries because Make Up For Ever has designed the ultimate, entirely customizable palette system that lets you design the all-in-one palette of your dreams.

So let's break it down shall we?

Make Up For Ever began as a brand designed for professional artists and it has long been the go-to brand for specialized, detailed products designed to accommodate every single skin type and skin tone. From their primers and foundations to their SFX products and glitters they have an option for everyone.

Their new Artist Face Colour Collection and customizable palette system ("refillable makeup system") has taken this one step further with an unparalleled range of shades, finishes and formulas in a fuss-free format.

The Powders

The new Artist Face Colour Collection is a gorgeous range of 34 different face powders, including 20 Blushes, 8 Sculpting Powders, and 6 Highlighting Powders with 23 of them having a matte finish and 9 having a beautiful shimmer finish.

Each powder on its own costs $29 CAD/$23 USD for 5g of product. Each one comes in a refillable pan similar to an un-potted eyeshadow you might find at MAC, meaning you can mix and match the powders to create your own individual palette.

The pressed powders themselves are absolutely gorgeous in both finish and formulation. They were designed with an incredibly unique formula featuring atomized pigments (meaning very fine particles or droplets) that provide intense colour payoff in a super finely milled powder that feels unbelievably soft, almost creamy to the touch.

The incredibly fine formula makes for beautiful silky powders that blend like a dream, melt into the skin and layer seamlessly. There is no sign of dryness or any sort of powdery kickback so say goodbye to fallout and patchy application.

L-R S112, H100, B308

The shade range is an absolute dream with such a wide array of colours and finishes that will suit absolutely every complexion. There are cool tones, warm tones, sculpting shades, brightening shades, nudes, pinks, peaches, berries and any shade of highlight you can possibly imagine. They are all sorted by a simple labelling system of H___ for highlighting shades, S___ for sculpting shades and B___ for blush shades.

I have the shades H100 which is a matte ivory highlight for under the eyes, S112 which is the lightest neutral toned sculpting powder and B308 which is a beautiful matte coral blush. I have since acquired S214 which is a muted mauve toned sculpting powder but I use it as a blush and S116 which is the third lightest more cool toned sculpting powder.

All of the shades that I have tried are absolutely stunning, incredibly pigmented and they perform flawlessly. They blend into the skin effortlessly, diffuse easily to create a natural flush, and they last all day long.

The Palette System

The "refillable makeup system" of reusable magnetic palettes is a dream come true. This system gives you the ability to create you own ideal palette with all of your must haves in one spot. It is incredibly convenient for storage and for travel and it gives you the chance to mix and match your shades and even swap them out when you need a change.

The sturdy tin palettes come in a 1 pan size, 2 pan size and 3 pan size all of which cost only $2 CAD on their own. However when purchased with the actual powder pans themselves, Make Up For Ever gives you a great deal!

When you buy two powder pans and a palette you only pay $44 CAD/$35 USD instead of the true value of $60 CAD/$48 USD.
When you buy three powder pans and a palette you only pay $56 CAD/$45 USD instead of the true value of $89 CAD/$71 USD.

I currently have a two pan palette with my go-to sculpting and highlighting shades and a three pan palette with my blushes and deeper contour.

Make Up For Ever has also released their Metal Pro Palettes with offer you a larger palette that will hold 6,9 and 16 pans for a master dream palette.

I have honestly fallen so hard for this entire system, it is not only formulated beautifully but it simplified my world by giving me everything I need in one convenient, portable palette. The best bit is that they just released another version designed for eyeshadows and I can't wait to play with it!!

Glow-Getter | The 4 BEST Powder Highlighters From The Drugstore | Reviews & Swatches

Glow-Getter | The 4 BEST Powder Highlighters From The Drugstore | Reviews & Swatches | labellesirene.ca

Hey Beauties!

My makeup routine and the exact products that I use change on a daily basis. I have my staples (the products I repurchase again and again) but when it comes to blush, bronzer, shadow and highlight I like to switch it up and try new things or even reincorporate products that I haven't used in awhile.

I think this is a really smart way to venture outside of your comfort zone and keep your routine fresh and up to date. It can become an expensive habit if you stick to prestige products only (which I'm sometimes guilty of) so I have really been trying to incorporate
more affordable choices into my arsenal.

The drugstore has been seriously upping its game lately and a good chunk of new releases are just as good as their more expensive counterparts. This is especially true when it comes to highlighting powders and I have rounded up the 4 best ones that you need in your rotation.

ONE.

The Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighters ($6 USD/$8 CAD) are a favourite of the Kardashians, especially Khloe who has posted about it multiple times. They have a baked formula so they have a slightly drier, denser formula than you may not be used to but it translates to a beautiful soft glow that can't really be overdone.

They come in 5 shades all of which have a pearly finish and a different undertone. There is Radiant Lights (a champagne), Peach Lights (a peach), Golden Lights (a light beige gold), Rose Gold Lights (a rose gold), and Matte Lights (a matte white). They are only available at Ulta

TWO.

The Maybelline Master Chrome By Face Studio Metallic Highlighters ($10 USD/$13 CAD) are still relatively new, having just been released early last year. They started as a single shade (molten gold) and have now expanded to included two more (rose gold and prismatic). The name "master chrome" is the perfect description for their intense melted metallic, high shine finish.

They have the most blinding finish of any of these highlighters and they are also extremely pigmented. There are actual metallic pigments infused within the powder particles to give a highly reflective glow. They have a very soft, super creamy texture that crumbles in the pan but melts into the skin.

THREE.

The Wet n' Wild MegaGlow Highlighting Powders ($5 USD/$7 CAD) are not only the most affordable option on this list but they might just be my favourite. The MegaGlow range started with only 2 shades but they were such a hit that they have expanded into 4 permanent shades - Blossom Glow (pink champagne), Crown of My Canopy (rose gold), Precious Petals (true champagne), Golden Flower Crown (yellow gold) - with limited edition options popping up all of the time.

They have a truly beautiful formula that is very reminiscent of a higher end product. The ultra finely milled powder is velvety smooth and feels creamy to the touch, meaning it applies like a second skin. The formula is infused with rich, shimmering pearl pigments that give it a soft luminous glow and great colour payoff without any glitter.

FOUR.

The Milani Strobelight Instant Glow Powders ($10 USD/$13 CAD) are another more recent release. They began with just 4 shades - Afterglow, Dayglow, Sunglow, Glowing - and have now expanded into 8 with limited edition versions being added regularly. They are described as a strobing powder, meaning they are designed to give a smooth sheen to the skin and a rather vibrant luminosity to wherever it is placed.

They are formulated with light reflecting pearls suspended in a super fine powder and there is no visible shimmer.

Top-Bottom - ONE Radiant Lights, FOUR Afterglow, TWO Molten Gold, FOUR Precious Petals, Blossom Glow

How To Tips

1. Choose a highlighter based on the intensity you desire.
2. Choose your brush
- a dense cheek brush packs on more pigment
- a fluffy fan brush delivers a more subtle yet targeted application
3. Blend in with a damp sponge for a more natural finish
4. Mix and match to make your perfect shade (lighten/deepen)
5. Apply in the inner corners, under the brow bone and the centre of the lid to brighten eyes
6. Layer with liquids for a more dynamic effect

What is your favourite affordable highlight?
