Latest Beauty Buys | Hard To Find Makeup From Milani, NYX & e.l.f | Haul & First Impressions

Latest Beauty Buys | Hard To Find Makeup From Milani, NYX & e.l.f | Haul & First Impressions | labellesirene.ca

Hey Beauties!

Like most things in life, makeup can become a little bit of an addiction. Personally, I am always trying to find the latest, the greatest, and the most talked about products but it can be a massive task to track down certain brands and products in Canada.

Sometimes, the anticipation over the latest Milani lipstick is so strong that I find myself paying crazy shipping costs and biting the bullet on the exchange rate. Well, those days are now far behind me as I have discovered a one-stop-shop for all of my favourite unattainable brands like Milani, NYX, e.l.f, the Balm, Real Techniques & more!

I recently had a chance to shop those brands and I went a bit crazy when I saw how vast, up to date and inexpensive the options were. So I thought I would share the latest products to join my collection, some of which I have been coveting for months and months.

Milani was the first brand that caught my attention and I may have done a little happy dance when I saw how large and well stocked the display was! They had every product that I have been dying to try and in every shade option possible.

I ended up purchasing the Milani Conceal & Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation & Concealer in the shade 01 Creamy Vanilla, the Rose Powder Blushes in 08 Tea Rose, 01 Romantic Rose & 05 Coral Cove, the Matte Lipstick in 68 Iconic, the Moisture Lock Infused Lip Treatment in 01 Moisturizing Almond & Coconut as well as 05 Repairing Primrose, and lastly the Everyday Eyes Shadow Collection in 05 Earthy Elements and 02 Bare Necessities.

The next two brands that I knew I needed to explore were NYX and e.l.f! NYX is slightly more available nowadays but the selection tends to be a bit lacking. This NYX display was massive and VERY well stocked! I was so overwhelmed by the choices that I only grabbed a few bits but I will be going back ASAP!

I ended up choosing the NYX Eyeshadow Base in Pure White, the Ombre Powder Blush in 04 Mauve Me, and the Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks in 12 Vintage, 04 Soft Spoken, and 21 Brooklyn Thorn.

e.l.f is a brand that has always intrigued me since it is SO popular in the US and the prices are so affordable. Unfortunately, it is pretty much non-existent in Canada. Until now that is. This e.l.f display had all of the core products and even a few of their new palettes and brushes!

I ended up grabbing the e.l.f Illuminating Face Primer since I LOVE a glowy base.

That's everything that I picked up on this trip apart from a few Real Techniques tools which you know I love, but I will be heading back very soon to grab even more goodies!

Now if you're wondering where I picked up all of these incredible, hard-to-find products prepare to be excited! All of these brands and many more are now available at the brand new Rexall Beauty Department located at 901 Eglington Ave West in Toronto! The new Beauty Department is a revolutionary concept store that makes shopping for beauty an absolute breeze. I will have another post coming up soon with all of the details and updates on upcoming locations to stay tuned!

Get Your Strobe On - Highlighting 101 | Maybelline Master Strobing Sticks & Master Contour Kit | Review & Swatches

Get Your Strobe On - Highlighting 101 | Maybelline Master Strobing Sticks & Master Contour Kit | Review & Swatches | labellesirene.ca

Hey Beauties!

I'm sure that by now, you know how much I adore a good glow and I'm definitely not afraid to shell out a pretty penny for the perfect highlighter. However, I know that might not be entirely reasonable when you have a budget or are just stepping your toes into the highlighting world.

So, I set out on a mission to find the best affordable & easily accessible highlighting products and Maybelline had the perfect answers to my quest. I found both a powder and a cream highlighter that will help you achieve all of your glow goals so let's get right into the details.

Master Strobing Sticks

Maybelline's newest foray into the highlighting universe, the Master Strobing Sticks are seriously gorgeous cream illuminating highlight sticks that help you achieve a more targeted glow for the ultimate "strobe" effect.

These twist up sticks retail for $9.99 CAD/$7.99 USD (0.24 oz) and come in two beautiful shades. 100 Light Iridescent is a soft champagne pink and 200 Medium/Nude Glow is a warm golden tone. They not only come in gorgeous shades but the formula is a clear winner. They are super creamy and smooth to the point of application and blending becoming a pure delight.

These beauties have a lightweight, whipped sort of texture that is not at all greasy or slick but just dry enough. They set to a soft powdery finish leaving you just enough time to blend before hand.

The cream contains micro fine pearls that give it that gorgeous glow, there is no glitter or chunks of shimmer just a lovely pearlescent sheen. The particles are so fine that you cannot feel or see any of them within the cream itself, only the incredible one-swipe pigmentation and the glow.

These sticks are intended to help you add targeted dimension and illumination to the face and the cream formula makes it easy to customize the intensity from subtle and sweet to in your face and bright.

OR
- use a finger or brush to apply softly (less intense)

Master Contour Face Contouring Kit

The Master Contour Face Contouring Kit is a fantastic drugstore option for all of your contouring needs but the real gem in this palette is the highlighting powder.

It retails for $14.99 CAD/$12.99 CAD and comes in 2 shades - light/medium and medium/deep. It features a bronzer, a blush, and a highlighter. The bronzer is a warm natural matte shade, the blush is a mid-tone rosy brown with a slight sheen and the highlighter is a gorgeous champagne gold with shimmer.

The powders are all very smooth and creamy and they blend well. They are all very nicely pigmented but they sheer out as you blend so they appear very natural and never overdone.

The highlight gives a beautiful sheen to the skin with a subtle golden undertone. It helps you look healthy and radiant with no obvious glitter. I love to apply this highlight over top of the cream for an added level of shine or alone to give an all over glow.

L-R - Bronzer, Blush & Highlight

Highlighting 101

Highlighting is intended to bring dimension and light to the face by drawing attention to certain areas while detracting attention from others. Typically highlight is applied to the high points of the face when the sun would naturally hit (cheekbones, temples, tip of the nose, cupid's bow, brow bone and chin). Contour (bronzer) is then applied to other areas of the face to help that highlight pop even more.

Highlighting can be achieved with powder, cream, or liquid as long as it is a shade or two lighter than the colour of your skin/foundation. Typically liquid is mixed in with foundation or added as extra pop, cream is often a lighter concealer used under the eyes and powder is a final step to bring a look to life.

Final Thoughts

Highlighting is really not as difficult as it may seem and with these two products from Maybelline, it is not only easy to achieve but also easy to afford. Whether you want a subtle glow or an intense sheen Maybelline has just what you need.

One Cup At A Time | Coffee Mugs For Every #GirlBoss To Get You Through The Work Day | labellesirene.ca

Hey Beauties!

Let's be honest, blogging is hard work! It may look like a glamorous job but it takes long hours, late nights, unending creativity and a ton of dedication. Some days are more exciting with photo shoots, events, and shopping but others see you stuck at your desk hammering out posts fueled only by endless cups of coffee.

On those days when all you do is work, work, work, it's essential to keep your spirits up and energy levels high in any way you can. Personally, I love to surround myself with an inspiring workspace, girly stationary, and a fun coffee mug.

To help out all of my #GirlBosses out there, I wanted to share my favourite coffee mugs (other than Disney) to get me through the work day.

The Editing Day mug for hours in Lightroom, Photoshop or Final Cut Pro.

The Boss Not Bossy mug days when you might have a helping hand.

The Prosecco mug for those late Friday nights.

The Bun Girl mug for Monday mornings when you just want to stay in bed.

The Brunch Harder mug for those Sundays when you have a little girl time.

The Get It Girl mug for commemorating goals you achieved.

Falling Floral | Quo Cosmetics Fall 2016 Collection | Overview & First Impressions | labellesirene.ca

Hey Beauties!

When it comes to makeup; new releases and limited edition collections always cause some sort of frenzy. There is really nothing more exciting than getting your hands on the latest product to hit the shelves. One brand that is always on the ball with the latest and greatest is Quo Cosmetics

Quo is an exclusive in-house brand only available at Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix and it is often overlooked for the quality of the products it offers. Every season, Quo comes out with a limited edition collection featuring versions of their most popular products and they are always a big hit.

Each seasonal collection comes in uniquely patterned packaging to celebrate the upcoming season and this year's Fall 2016 collection is no different. Each product is enrobed in a beautiful, deep violet, botanical print, and a glossy finish.

The Fall 2016 Collection features 4 products that each come in various shades as well as a makeup bag and a set of brushes. Let's take a look at each one.

Eye Shadow Palette in Neutral Ground ($18 CAD) - Just as each season, their eyeshadow palette is made of beautiful shades in various finishes. This season the shades lean more warm toned with a few gorgeous coppers and golds. The Quo palettes usually have a variation in quality with some shades performing beautifully while others are dry and less pigmented.

Face Palette in Perfectly Ordinary ($20 CAD) - A staple in Quo's limited edition releases, the face palettes are typically intended for contouring and highlighting the face. This season, the palette features 3 gorgeous powders; a setting powder, a shimmery bronzer, and a beautiful burgundy blush. All 3 are absolutely wonderful with a smooth formula, great pigmentation, and lovely shades.

Raise Your Brows Brow Palette ($12 CAD) - A variation in the brow palette they release every season, it includes a powder duo and a wax to set.

Matte Lipstick in ($14 CAD) - Quo's lip products are always top notch and their new matte lipsticks are no different. This particular shade is a gorgeous vibrant red.

Brush Up! Makeup Brush Set ($50 CAD) - a set of stunning metallic purple brushes and a matching bag. Includes a foundation brush, powder brush, blush brush, shadow brush, lip brush, and liner/brow brush.

The Fall 2016 Collection is yet another fantastic release from Canada's very own Quo Cosmetics. It is full of great staple products in beautiful shades and quality tools. I would definitely suggest picking up a product or two when then release in mid-September.
