Cheek to Cheek | Benefit Cosmetics Cheekathon "Kick Up Your Cheeks Blush Kit" | Review & SwatchesMonday, August 15, 2016
Being in this business means a lot of products come across my desk every single day and to keep track of everything I have a certain method for organizing and storing them. When something new comes in, I shoot it, I add it to my "to write" lists and the product then gets added to my makeup collection for testing. After a few weeks a blog post is written and scheduled to be shared with you!
Well I must admit that every once in awhile a product will come into my life that I become so obsessed with that the testing phase just goes on and on. That is exactly what happened with the Benefit Cosmetics Cheekathon "Kick Up Your Cheeks Blush Kit". It was love at first sight and I just couldn't put it down long enough to write a review. Thankfully, this limited edition palette is still available at Ulta, some Sephora's, Beauty Boutique and Benefit's website!
The Cheekathon Basics
The Benefit Cosmetics Cheekathon "Kick Up Your Cheeks Blush Kit" ($58 USD/$75 CAD) is a seriously adorable palette with pink and gold accents and Benefit's beautiful boxed powder showgirls front and centre. It is a slim almost book-sized palette with a magnetic closure that is perfect for travel. The packaging is pretty much the prettiest thing ever but it gets even better when you open it up!
Inside the Cheekathon palette live 5 of Benefit's classic best-selling boxed powders. These carefully picked powders offer everything you could need for contouring, bronzing, highlighting and adding a flush of colour in one handy package.
The great thing is all of these powders are multifunctional and can be used by just about any skin tone. You can wear each one alone or you can layer and build for your own custom creation.
While Benefit has done plenty of similar boxed powder palettes over the past couple of years (and they have been amazing) this particular palette is in a league of it's own! Not only are all 5 of the blushes FULL SIZE giving you an incredible value of $150 USD/$180 CAD (each blush comes to $15 each instead of the regular price of $30 each) but the quality is top notch.
Cheekathon Shades & Formula
Hoola - Matte Cool Toned Bronzer
Dandelion - Baby Pink Brightening Blush or Face Powder
Rockateur - Rose Gold (mauve-pink with gold shimmer) Blush
Dallas - Dusty Rose (mauve-brown) Blush or Bronzer
Coralista - Shimmery Coral Pink Blush
The powders in the palette are exactly equal to their individual counterparts in pigmentation, softness and blendability which is rare in most mass palettes. These powders are super smooth and soft with an almost buttery texture.
They are really nicely pigmented with Dallas & Hoola being just a bit stronger. The colour payoff is at that perfect level where you can build it up and layer to get your ideal flush but you can never go overboard.
(L-R - Dandelion, Hoola, Rockateur, Dallas, Coralista)
The Cheekathon palette is a total showstopper! It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful palettes I have ever seen and it has everything you could ever want on the inside. The combination of the incredible value (5 blushes for the price of 2!) the incredible formula and practicality make this a palette you don't want to miss!
(my favourite way to use the palette)
- apply Dallas all over as a bronzer
- use Hoola as a contour
- apply Rockateur on the apples of the cheeks
- add Watts Up for an extra pop!
The Benefit Cosmetics Cheekathon Blush Kit is still available at Ulta, some Sephora stores, and Beauty Boutique.
