Dandelion Dreams | Benefit Cosmetics Dandelion Dew & Shy Beam | Review & SwatchesMonday, April 11, 2016
Spring is right around the corner - I say that because it's still snowing here but I know it's coming eventually - and I don't know about you but I am busting at the seams to shake up my makeup routine for more spring/summer friendly products.
It's time to pack away the neutrals and bring out the bright pops of colour, switch the matte powder products for ones with luminosity and cream products that give you a dewy glow.
With that being said, one of my ALL TIME favourite spring blushes is Benefit Cosmetics' Dandelion Boxed Powder. It is the perfect bright baby pink that instantly brightens up your complexion, taking you from dull and flat to radiant and rosy.
So I'm sure you could imagine how excited I got when I saw a sneak peek of Benefit's newest Dandelion products - an extension of the original line - and that excitement grew ten fold when I got them in my mailbox.
The newest additions to the Dandelion range are two spring ready liquids inspired by the original brightening face powder. They take the gorgeous delicate baby pink radiance of the original blush and bring it to a whole new level of gorgeous.
The Dandelion Dew retails for $36 CAD/$28 USD and comes in an absolutely breathtaking metallic mint green bottle with pink accents and an Art Deco vibe. It contains 1 fluid ounce or 30 ml of a gorgeous liquid blush that is dispensed via a pump. Yay!
Dandelion Dew is a moussey liquid with a lighter than air texture and a beautiful dewy pink glow. Straight out of the pump you can see how radiant and delicate the Dandelion Dew really is. The ultra creamy formula has a light, sweet scent and is so pigmented that one pump is more than enough for both cheeks.
The mousse is an absolute breeze to apply and melts seamlessly into the skin when you simply dab onto the cheeks and blend using a beauty blender. This method will give you a gorgeous second skin finish that looks perfectly blended while keeping the product exactly where you want it.
One layer is just enough for me but it can be built up to be even more intense and the forgiving formula gives you time to work with it but once it sets it won't be moving. You can wear it in a number of ways including on its own over makeup, all alone as a pop of colour or layered with the original powder for an extra punch.
The lit from within glow and healthy pink radiance it gives is beyond words gorgeous and the formula is just as fantastic. I love that unlike some cream products, Dandelion Dew is so easy to apply and blend that you just can't make a mistake. It also lasts an impressively long time at 7 hours before fading.

The Dandelion Shy Beam (o.33 fl oz) retails for $34 CAD/ $26 USD and comes in a jazzed up metallic blush bottle similar to the original High Beam Illuminator - but way cuter! It is a one of a kind matte liquid highlighter that can be used in a million different ways.
Dandelion Shy Beam is a gorgeous highlighting liquid without any shimmer or shine to give a soft, natural looking radiance for those girls (or looks) that require a more demure approach. The light nude pink shade offers the same brightening pink of the Dandelion range but with a much softer, gentler result.
Shy Beam is a thicker liquid that feels like the consistency of a thin concealer. It can be applied anywhere on the face using the small brush under the bottle cap and quickly blended out using your fingers or a sponge.
It delivers a lovely brightening effect and subtle sheen to whatever part of the face you apply it and helps to attract light and attention to that area. It is perfect for use in contouring because it gives a subtle concealing effect while also brightening and highlighting the high points of the face.
You can apply it along your cheekbones, nose, brows, lips and chin to bring the dimensions of your face to life or you can apply it under the eyes to color correct against dullness and dark shadows. (for more on color correcting check out this Color Correcting 101 post)

I love how versatile and unique the Dandelion Shy Beam is, it is a one of a kind product that might be the answer to highlighting for people who are scared of too much glow. If you have oilier skin but still want to give highlighting and contouring a try then Shy Beam would be a great option. The light nude pink shade is better suited for light to medium skin tones but can be used on my fair skin.
I am absolutely in love with both of the new additions to the Dandelion range from Benefit Cosmetics, especially the Dandelion Dew. I love how Benefit is taking their iconic best selling products and using them as inspiration to create new, innovative sisters.
