The Sunday Post

Hey Beauties!

This week has been so much fun! The lovely Stephanie (Tragic Wardrobe) and I have been busy finishing up the final details of our secret project (will be revealed here on Tuesday!) and I have had a million things to do. On Tuesday night I was able to go see my 4 year old niece perform in her dance recital and it was probably one of the most adorable things I have ever witnessed. She danced in two numbers and her tap dance shuffles were out of this world.

On Wednesday, Stephanie and I went to an amazing event at the Ripley's Aquarium in Toronto with Benefit Cosmetics. It was so nice to catch up with some beautiful blogger babes and check out all the new things Benefit has up their sleeve. It was also really awesome to be able to spend so much time in the aquarium and hang out with my fishy friends. I will have a full recap of the event and sneak peek into Benefit's newest release on Wednesday!

My second order from Gerard Cosmetics came in the mail this past week and now my lipstick collection is almost complete. I ordered 5 more shades (Underground, Rodeo Drive, Nude, Kimchi Doll and Fire Engine) and there are 4 more on my wishlist. I have really fallen in love with these lipsticks and if you want to check out my review of the first 3 shades then click here

How was your week? What did you do?

Style Saturday | Spring In My Step

Hey Beauties!

Happy Saturday! Last weekend I shared my favourite new accessory - my wood watch from JORD* in the style Sidney and today I wanted to show you how I have been rocking it.

I feel like this watch makes such a huge statement that it really should be the star of the show. There is something about it that is so chic and classic that it inspired me to keep my outfit simple and sleek. I wanted to place the spotlight on this gorgeous piece of craftsmanship so I kept to neutral pieces with an airy light feel. My white eyelet dress and grey cardigan are very simple in design so they pair really well with the simplistic design of the watch. To add a little bit of balance, I chose to wear my vintage inspired sunglasses and my tan gladiator sandals. They are both in neutral tones but add a bit of interest and texture without taking the attention away from the watch.

Dress - Sirens (LOVE this one) | Cardigan - Aritzia (similar) | Watch - JORD | Sunglasses - Forever 21 | Sandals - Ardene (similar) | Lips - Jordana Easyliner in Tawny

Rose Golden Glow With L'oreal's La Palette Nude 1

Hey Beauties!

I am a neutral eyeshadow girl at heart and I always will be but I really enjoy playing within the spectrum of neutral and discovering new looks and combinations. I love to play with eyeshadow and while I dream of having the guts to rock a bright blue or purple eye, I know that will take some time. In the meantime I am going to rock every neutral look I possibly can and hone my skills so I can get better and better.

One of my absolute favourite looks right now is this beautiful rose gold eye with a thick cat wing that I created using the L'oreal La Palette Nude 1 eyeshadow palette. I have rocked this specific look on 4 days this past week and I just can't get enough. It is so perfect for spring and summer with it's golden glow and pink tones, it just screams for a day at the beach or a night out with friends.

This is a super simple look that only takes a few minutes and uses only 5 shadows, 4 of which are from the La Nude Palette*. The 4th shadow is one of L'oreal's La Couleur Infallible Pressed Pigments in the shade Hourglass Beige*.

To achieve this look you will need a large crease brush, a small crease brush, a fluffy blending brush and a flat shadow brush. Using the crease brush take the 3rd shade from the left (a matte taupe brown) and using sheer layers buff into the crease for your transition shade. Build up the crease until you get to the amount of definition you prefer then switch to the small crease brush.

With that brush, take a small bit of the 6th shade from the left (a deep reddish brown) and place it into the outer v of your eye. Again, you want to build this shade up in sheer layers and make sure to blend using the first brush you used between each layer.

Once you have reached the depth of colour you prefer, use your fluffy blending brush to buff out all of the edges. Switch to your flat shadow brush and take a bit of the 2nd shade from the left (a rose gold shimmer) placing it all over the inner two thirds of the lid. Add to it until you have enough shimmer for your liking, for me that is about 2 layers. Return to your fluffy brush and blend over the entire lid.

Next, take a bit of the Infallible pigment on your pinky finger and place it onto the inner third and inner corner, dragging it down onto the inner part of the lower lid. Take a tiny bit of the rose gold shade and place it on top of the infallible pigment to blend everything together.

To finish it off, use the 1st shade from the left (a matte cream) to highlight the brow bone and then blend once more. Take the original crease shade and drag it along the lower lid, add your liner then mascara and you are done!

A super simple eye that looks chic and perfectly effortless but takes no time at all. I have become so addicted to this look and I love that I can create such gorgeous looks with the La Palette Nude. To see my full review of the La Palette Nude 1, check out this post

Stay tuned to next Friday when I will be sharing another look using the La Palette Nude 2!

Are you a neutral lover? What sort of look are you loving right now?

My Top 4 Style Essentials For Summer With JORD Watches

Hey Beauties!

Summer is just around the corner and I can't wait any longer to break out my favourite summertime outfits! During the warmest months of the year I am always rocking a fun, flirty dress and some comfy sandals but I like to jazz up my look with my favourite accessories and makeup must haves. Today I wanted to share my style essentials for summer featuring my amazing new watch from JORD.

My first style essential is a good pair of sunnies! There is something about sunglasses that make summer feel so much more whimsical and fun so I love to have a few pairs on hand to go with any outfit. This pair from Forever 21 is my absolute favourite at the moment, they are a gorgeous blush tone and have a slight wing on the corners that give them a vintage feel - which i adore!

My second style essential is a good collection of dainty rings to mix and match. I love the look that a bunch of different size rings piled onto one hand can give. It is such an effortless way to add a bit of interest to an outfit and to amp up the boho chic vibe. I love to get my rings at Forever 21 and H&M.

My third style essential is a good nude lip. During the summer, I like to keep my makeup pretty simple with an glowy bronzed complexion and a nude lip. I feel like a nude lip is so much easier to maintain when you are spending the day out in the sun or running around with friends. If you are a lipstick lover or prefer something a little more fuss free, you can't go wrong with a staple nude. My favourite lipstick is Gerard Cosmetics lipstick in Buttercup and my favourite lipgloss is the Elizabeth & James Nirvana White lipgloss from their Christmas collection.

My fourth style essential is this absolutely stunning wood watch - in the style Sidney* -from the company JORD Watches. JORD is a really remarkable company that seems to be revolutionizing the way people look at their adornments. JORD is a collection of artists, designers and watchsmiths that dedicate themselves to creating a new type of watch. They aim to create a lifestyle in a timepiece, a lifestyle that is modelled on a quest to live simply, sustainably, efficiently and is influenced by experiential living. JORD creates watches that not only look amazing but serve a purpose and tell a story that is individual to every single wearer.

The JORD style is influenced by natural elements, as the name suggests (JORD is Swedish for earth) and modern design. Each watch is made almost entirely of wood and accented with beautiful metals and gems. The wood that molds each piece is hand picked with a design and purpose in mind and then treated with the utmost care to bring out the natural beauty and highlight the stunning grain. There are currently 30 styles available and no two are exactly alike, all of them are expertly designed and executed to ensure that the watches are not just worn but used and admired. JORD uses all sorts of wood from Maple and Cherry to Zebrawood and Bamboo and all of the watches are reasonably priced from $100 - $300.

The Sidney watch ($199) is absolutely stunning and perfect from summer. It is made from Maple and accented with a rose gold face and Swarovski crystals. The light tones of the Maple are perfect for the warmer weather because they run along the same lines as my favourite colours in summer - white, blush and nude. The lightness brings a weightless feel to your wrist so you can be wearing a fun summer dress and it will blend in perfectly without looking bulky.

My watch feels so incredibly well made, it has a weight to it so that you know you are getting good thick wood but it is also very light on the wrist. The wood is polished till it is soft and smooth and feels so comfortable against the skin. The connections between each link and the clasp are very smooth and work perfectly. The clasp is a button that is easy to work with one hand for both putting it on and taking it off. The face and crystals glow in the sunshine are perfectly installed, there is no way that a crystal is going to fall out. You can truly feel the quality and care that was put into this watch and I think it is a true piece of art on your wrist. I have fallen in absolute love with my watch and I will be wearing it with every outfit I rock this summer.

My style essentials for summer are all about feeling light and weightless in the sunshine. I love the look of a white outfit accented with little bits of nude and blush so stay tuned till Saturday for an ootd that looks just like that!

What are your style essentials for Summer? Would you rock a wood watch?

Review | L'oreal La Palette Nude 1 With Swatches

Hey Beauties!

If there is one thing every girl needs in her makeup kit, it's a good neutral eyeshadow palette. No look is complete without a little bit of colour and depth to the eye and for the longest time it was almost impossible to find a decent palette at an affordable price. Drugstore options were not always the best quality and most only offered chunky shimmer shades. Higher end brands like Urban Decay offer palettes with a mix of matte and shimmer shadows but with a price tag of around $60, they are not all that accessible.

In the last year or so affordable brands like NYX and Maybelline have tried to bring the nude palette to the drugstore but none have quite gotten it right until now. L'oreal has blown every other attempt out of the water with their new La Palette Nude collection.

L'oreal's La Palette Nude collection features 2 neutral eyeshadow palettes. Palette 1 has a range of warm browns, golds and bronzes while Palette 2 has more cool tones with taupes, pinks and mauves. Both palettes have 10 shadows that come in lovely sleek packaging. The palettes are quite large - about the same size as the Naked palettes - and have a really simplistic elegance. They are sturdy black plastic with a snap closure and a window to see the product inside. There is a large strip mirror on the inside of the lid and they come with a double ended applicator that has a small brush on one side and a sponge on the other.

The back of the palette has a numbered guide for all of the shades - yay!- and features 4 looks with diagrams and instructions. The looks are simple but beautiful and the instructions make them easy for anyone to achieve. You can find even more looks on their new Makeup Genius App, which is so much fun to play with.

La Palette Nude 1* has a really nice mix of matte, satin and shimmery shades - no chunky glitter or frost to be seen. From left to right there is a matte cream, a shimmery rose gold, a matte taupe brown, a satin bronzed gold, a matte tan brown, a reddish brown, a shimmery bronze, a chocolate brown, a satin silvery taupe and a shimmery pinkish white.

The matte shades make for the perfect transition colours to enhance the gorgeous golds and bronzes. The shimmer shades are quite subtle in comparison to shades from something like the naked palette, which I actually think I prefer. They offer a gorgeous glow instead of a chunky metallic sheen and are much more appropriate for the day to day. If you want a more intense sheen all you need to do is wet your brush. Overall, there are a million different looks you can create with just the 10 shades in this palette, the only thing missing is a matte black.

The shadows themselves are really fantastic, they are buttery smooth, soft and silky. They have really great pigmentation and while some shades a bit more sheer than others, they all build up beautifully to create a deep rich colour. They are quite powdery but that never translates to being dry, chalky or too dense. They are simply very soft, creamy shadows. If you take care to build in sheer layers and tap off any excess before applying, you will have very little fallout. They all blend really nicely and buff out well no matter how much you apply. With a primer underneath they have no problems with creasing and they last a full 7-8 hours before fading evenly.

I genuinely think that L'oreal has created an amazing everyday palette that has a great range of shades and a pretty fantastic formula. I know there are some differences in opinion but I think that you are getting a really awesome product for the price. You can't really compare this to something like the naked palette fairly because there was a completely different market and budget in mind when they created it. No other palette in this market has been able to achieve what this one has and I think it is truly impressive.

L'oreal has created the perfect palette for the every woman, the girls who might not want to spend $60 on eyeshadow, the beginners and even the beauty lovers like me. At $29.99 CAD it is a bit pricey but it is absolutely worth every penny.

Stay tuned for a tutorial with this palette on Friday and a review of La Palette Nude 2 next week!

The Sunday Post

Hey Beauties!

Can you believe it's almost June? This month has been really important to me and I have been incredibly busy working on something really exciting. June 1st has been the date in my head that I wanted to have everything done by so it's both scary and super exciting to know that I am only a week away. Everything is right on track and I honestly can't wait to share my little secret with all of you.

In the meantime this past week has been filled with cuddles with my Snow White and plenty of trips to Tim Hortons because I'm slightly obsessed with coffee and there is one right around the corner from my house.

I placed an order with Jordana Cosmetics and I bought 7 shades from the Modern Matte collection. Let me just say that I LOVE these lipsticks, so look forward to a review soon!

Stay tuned to next weekend to find out what my secret is!

How was your week?

Style Saturday | Jungle Fever

Hey Beauties!

Summer is on it's way and to celebrate the season, the Toronto Zoo invited myself and Stephanie from Tragic Wardrobe to come visit and see everything they had to offer. Of course, I was so incredibly excited that I completely forgot to figure out what to wear! What do you wear for a super long day of walking and interacting with animals?

I wanted to be comfortable and I needed to be able to move freely but of course I also wanted to be cute for any photos we took. I originally planned on wearing a flowy dress but the weather had other plans and it ended up being quite cold. I decided to wear a few of my staple pieces that look super cute but feel like pyjamas. You can never really go wrong with a pair of comfy leggings and a cute top paired with warmer layers.

Jacket - Dynamite (similar) | Top - Forever 21 | Pants - Old Navy | Sweater - Forever 21 | Sandals - Ardene (similar) | Sunglasses - Forever 21

What would you wear to the zoo?
Don't forget to check out my photos from this trip to the zoo in this post!

New In | Sexton In The City Cosmetics

Hey Beauties!

Being such a massive fan of all things beauty, I always have my sights set on trying new products, brands and trends. Everywhere I go, I somehow always find myself at a beauty counter playing with lipsticks and blushes.

One of my favourite stores for fashion is Sexton In The City, a boutique in Hamilton, that just happens to have a pretty amazing beauty counter. I have featured Sexton a few times in the past and after falling in love with their accessories I knew I wanted to try some of their beauty products. I was in the midst of planning a trip to SITC when the lovely Natalie herself invited me to stop by and test out a few products.

Sexton In The City is the brainchild of Natalie Sexton, professional makeup artist, blogger and fashion expert for the Marilyn Denis Show. The brand was started in 2012 with their exclusive cosmetics line and has grown to become the ultimate one stop shop for everything a girl could need. Natalie has created a dream shopping experience where you can pick out an outfit, top it off with the perfect accessories and then add the finishing touches with an array of makeup.

The Sexton In The City collection has absolutely everything a makeup lover or beginner could imagine from primers and bases to blushes, liners and liquid lipsticks. Natalie was sweet enough to gift me 3 lipsticks, a foundation and an eyeliner and after playing with all three I want to share my favourites with you.

The High Definition Liquid Flawless Finish Foundation ($45) is a truly gorgeous liquid foundation that gives a beautiful, naturally flawless finish with medium coverage. It is a water based, non-comodegenic formula that contains Vitamin E and Wheat Germ, which helps to heal blemishes and improve skin elasticity.

It is a lightweight foundation that blends beautifully. A tiny bit goes a long way to create a nice sheer layer but can be easily built up without streaking or clumping on the skin. It practically melts into the skin and becomes one with your complexion. It perfects the little problems but still looks and feels like skin. It comes in a great range of shades with a variety of neutral and yellow undertones.

Of course, I was most excited to try the lipsticks and I was lucky enough to receive three; Plum Berry, Glamour Puss and Hippie. The Sexton In The City lipsticks($20) come in three different finishes, offering a range of matte, cream and high gloss shades. The formula varies for each finish but all three are enhanced with Vitamin E to soothe and condition lips.

{Plum Berry - Glamour Puss - Hippie}

Plum Berry is a stunning deep purple berry shade with a hint of red. It is a cream base with a bit of shimmer that applies slightly sheer but builds up to have gorgeous depth.

Glamour Puss is a gorgeous classic red with a hint of orange that has become my new favourite red lip. It is a cream that has intense pigmentation and glides on opaque in one quick swipe.

Hippie is the perfect shade for summer. A glossy peach that catches the light and makes lips look plump and healthy. It is a sheer formula but only slightly so it still gives off a really impressive pop of colour. It's the perfect lipstick to throw in your bag for a day out in the sun.

All three of the lipsticks have really beautiful formulations, they are creamy and smooth and apply evenly. I love that they are buildable and even the sheer shades have really impressive pigmentation. They also smell like MAC lipsticks which might just be my favourite smell in the world.

Overall I was really impressed by the Sexton In The City cosmetics range. Every product is absolutely beautiful and you can tell that they are made with love and care. The quality is fantastic it's so nice that everything is made in Canada. If you are looking to branch out and try something new, I highly recommend giving SITC a chance. You can stop by their boutique located at 789 King St West in Hamilton Ontario or pick up a few gems on their website at

A Day At The Toronto Zoo

Hey Beauties!

Growing up one of my favourite places to visit was the zoo, I have always loved animals and getting to see so many different ones was always incredibly exciting to me. So when the Toronto Zoo invited myself and Stephanie from Tragic Wardrobe to stop by, I couldn't contain my excitement. We planned a trip for as soon as possible and drove out to spend the day.

The Toronto Zoo is one of world's largest zoos at 710 acres with over 10km of walking trails divided into 7 zoological regions - IndoMalaya, Africa, the Americas, Australasia, Eurasia, the Canadian Domain and the Tundra Trek. Each region is perfectly themed to make you feel like you have truly stepped foot into the savanna or the rainforest. As you walk along the paths you visit each region and are presented with not only animals from that area but also different sights and sounds. The Tundra Trek is set up like a settler's camp in the Arctic, IndoMalaya is full of indoor rainforests and the Canadian Domain is nestled deep in the forest.

There are 5000 animals within 500 different species spread throughout the regions. All of the animals are grouped with others from their country in separate enclosures that all seem to connect together to make a very cohesive experience. Each region has indoor pavilions and outside environments that are designed to mimic the animal's natural habitat, they are large, very open and full of different levels and structures for the animals to hide or lay in.

Within each region are special exhibits like the Gorilla Rainforest featuring a baby gorilla named NNeka, the Great Barrier Reef with all of the classic fish we love and the Xie Shou Giant Panda Experience with 2 Giant Pandas from China. There are regular "shows" with zoo keepers that let you learn a little bit more about each animal and you get to see fun things like animals feeding or showing off their talents.

Every exhibit is a new experience but they are all so much fun. The zoo is such an immersive place that you end up forgetting about the rest of the world and having the best time of your life.

The Toronto Zoo is such an amazing little gem in the middle of Toronto and it is a place that everyone needs to experience at least once in their lifetime. Check out the Toronto Zoo's Youtube Channel for fun behind the scenes videos and stay tuned for a post on my outfit from that day.

Have you been to the Toronto Zoo? What is your favourite animal?

New In | Annabelle Twist Up Lip Crayon in Havana

Hey Beauties!

I discovered the Annabelle Twist Up Lipstick Crayons back in February and immediately fell in love. They offer everything you could ever want in a lipstick for only $10. They are both a lip liner and lipstick combined in a handy crayon format that delivers intense pigmentation, smooth application and long lasting wear in 24 vibrant shades.

I own a couple of the brighter shades in the line and I have been wearing them so much that I wanted to get at least one more. Since I have become slightly obsessed with nude lips, I decided to pick up Havana. Out of the few nude shades I chose Havana because I heard it was a "dupe" for the Pure Hollywood Liquid Lipstick by Anastasia Beverly Hills, a product I am dying to try.

Havana is a gorgeous rosy nude shade that really brightens up my face and I think would be beautiful on a variety of skin tones. It's that perfect pink toned nude that can be worn in a million different ways. You can top it with a gloss, pair it with a lip liner or wear it alone. With such a fantastic formula, it is the ideal base to mix with other products to create the perfect shade for you.

The Annabelle Twist Up Crayons are one of the best lipsticks on the market and they are so incredibly affordable. All of the shades I have tried, including Havana, have been so well formulated and I just can't stop wearing them. Check out my full review for details on wear, application and more!

Annabelle's Twist Up Crayons are available for $9.95 online and at most drugstores and other retailers. If you have not tried them you definitely need to, so run out and pick one up.

Have you tried Annabelle's Twist Up Crayons? Have you tried Havana?
