Review | Luxie Beauty Makeup BrushesMonday, November 09, 2015
Long time no talk! I'm sorry I've been so MIA for the last little while but I've had a few things going on in my personal life and at the same time I embarked upon a massive project of redecorating my entire apartment. I will have a post up soon to show you everything I did but for now lets get back to the makeup!
A good set of brushes is essential to every girl's makeup collection, whether it's big or small. They make a massive difference in the way products apply and appear on your skin. You could have only 10 products that don't break the bank or a huge collection of high end goodies but either way a good set of brushes will completely change the end result.
I recently picked up a few brushes from Luxie Beauty, a company that I saw plastered all over Instagram for their gorgeous rose gold and pink brushes, and I have fallen in love.
As I said, Luxie is known for their gorgeous pink brushes and I have to admit that is part of why I was drawn to them. Each brush has a stunning pearlescent baby pink handle with a rose gold ferrule and duo fibre bristles. Each brush also has the name and number embossed onto the handle in a silver font so you can easily find the brush you want.
Apart from how beautiful they look I was really intrigued because all of Luxie's brushes are synthetic, cruelty free, paraben free and completely vegan. Luxie currently offers 40 different brushes that cover every aspect of beauty from foundation, blending, blush, eye shadow and concealer to spoolies and lip brushes. You can buy each brush individually or try out one of their curated sets that range from full face essentials to the best eye brushes or even the entire collection.
Luxie's brushes are regularly compared to both MAC and Sigma in terms of quality and price but I personally think they are in a league of their own. They are truly incredibly well made brushes and they have a really nice weight and length that creates a perfect balance when you hold them in your hand.
The bristles are densely packed into the ferrules which are firmly attached so you don't have to worry about any wiggling or separation. The brushes are all individually handmade and shaped so each one is perfectly cut. The bristles are ridiculously soft but they are dense enough to pick up product well and apply it smoothly. They blend out both liquid, cream and powder products incredibly well and give an airbrushed finished to whatever you apply.
They all wash really well with no shedding or discolouration. They also have an antibacterial coating on the bristles that prevents bacteria from growing or transferring to your skin.
520 - Tapered Face ( For Powder, Bronzer etc) $24
504 - Large Angled (For Contour, Blush, Highlight) $16
524 - Small Duo Fibre (For Cream Application or Blending) $18
522 - Tapered Highlighting Brush (For Highlight, Powder or Contour) $24
205 - Tapered Blending (Transition Blending) - $12
227 - Blending (Crease or Outer V Blending) - $12
237 - Blending (Precision Blending) - $12
235 - Blending (Crease Building/Blending) - $12
213 - Eye Shader (Packing Colour) - $12
211 - Small Eye Concealer (Applying Eye Primer, Outlining Brows) - $12
Luxie has so many different brushes in their range, they have the basic shapes that we all know and love but they also have quite a few unique brushes that I haven't seen before. They are all rather reasonably priced as well, I would say they are comparable to Sigma but slightly cheaper and they offer 30% discount codes rather frequently on Snapchat and Instagram.
I absolutely love the 520 for all over powder and the 522 for setting my undereyes. The 524 is perfection for blending out your blush, bronzer and highlight to meld them all together. The 205 and 227 are my go to transition and crease brushes and the 237 is my new obsession. It is amazing for depositing colour into the outer v and buffing it out without disturbing any other shadows.
The Low Down
I could not say anymore good things about Luxie Beauty Brushes, they are so incredibly well made and they perform beautifully. I feel like they have truly made a huge impact on my makeup application and I cannot wait to get my hands on a few more. Luxie recently released their Onyx Noir Collection which is the more luxe version of the best selling brushes. It also includes a few new styles to try.
You can pick up Luxie Brushes from their website, they frequently have sales and offer worldwide shipping!
