Guest Post | Top 5 Holiday Makeup Tips You Need To Know

holidaycoll.jpg

Christmas is almost here, as well as New Year’s Eve, which means that it is time for the glamorous makeup. No matter whether you like it or not, it is definitely a must when it comes to holidays. Many girls get overly excited, which is exactly why they tend to make a lot of mistakes when it comes to their look. Don’t worry if you are one of them – here are five holiday makeup tips you need to know.
  1. Highlighter Should Be Your Best Friend

highcoll.jpg
Highlighter makes your skin looks radiant and super shiny. It acts as a brightener, and it should be applied under the eyes, along the nose and under the chin. It is also a good idea to apply a fine line above the eyebrows – this will pull your face up and make it look slimmer. Blend those lines by dabbing them with your fingers. Here is an extra tip: if you want your lips to look fuller, apply a highlighter to your Cupid’s bow.
  1. Add Shimmer

holiday-makeup-ideas.jpg
It definitely adds a touch of glamour and a pinch of drama to your look. Applying a shimmery eyeshadow just above the iris and on the inner corner of your eyes will open them up and make them look bigger, which will look amazing in photos. For Christmas, use silver and metallic shades. It is important to know that if you go for this kind of eye makeup, you should avoid applying shimmer somewhere else on your face. This would definitely be too much.
  1. Go Natural and Use Nude Makeup

Holiday+Makeup+Ideas.jpg
Dressing up is certainly a perfect occasion for a glamorous makeup. However, a nude look is always a good idea. Besides the fact that it looks chic and subtle, it will make your fabulous clothes stand out. When there is not much of colour to your makeup, a flawless skin tone becomes the most important. Apply sheer foundation, use soft browns on your eyelids and a peachy lipstick on your lips. Use organic cosmetics and  organic face makeup.
  1. Exfoliate, It’s an Instant Complexion Lifter

exfoliate.jpg
Despite the popular belief that the makeup is the crucial factor that contributes to the stunning face, I have to say that this is not quite true.  Clean and refreshed face is the most important if you want to achieve flawless look. Dry and flaky skin is very common problem during winter, which is why exfoliation is a key to success. The simplest homemade scrub made of olive oil and brown sugar will definitely do the trick. It will remove dead skin cells and allow your foundation to go on smoothly. Also, exfoliating your lips with a toothbrush will make them look fabulous, especially when you apply your favourite lipstick.
These five tips on how to achieve the perfect holiday look will definitely make your life easier. Not only that they are simple, but they are also very important if you want to look glamorous during holidays. Of course, everything starts with beautiful and moisturized skin. Enhancing it with a high-quality makeup is just a plus.

New In | Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara

Review | Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara | Flirty Volumized Lashes With Extra Curl | labellesirene.ca

Hey Beauties!

Maybelline has always been my go to when it comes to mascara, I was a big fan of the original Falsies, I have gone through a million tubes of the Colossal and then they released the Lash Sensational and I fell in love. With such an amazing history I couldn't wait to test out the new The Falsies Push Up Drama and I had really high expectations.

The Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama mascara retails for $12.99 CAD and is the newest member of the infamous Falsies collection. It features a "push up cup" brush and promises "dramatic lift and volume, with a creamy plumping formula that delivers instant volume and holds lift in place" It comes in a gorgeous red and hot metallic tube and is available in both waterproof and non-waterproof formulas.

Review | Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara | Flirty Volumized Lashes With Extra Curl | labellesirene.ca

The Falsies Push Up Drama mascara has a small, thin plastic wand covered in short "U" cup shaped bristles that are spaced far apart along the wand. They are designed to grab onto the lashes and push them upwards as you come through them. This strange little brush really helps to lift and curl the lashes giving great volume and drama.

The formula is quite wet so it coats the lashes quickly and easily while separating them and leaving behind a dark, dramatic coat of black. It sets to a lightweight, soft finish that doesn't feel stiff or crunchy but almost as if you don't have anything on at all. It feels much lighter than most other mascaras which makes it perfect for day to day makeup.

Review | Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara | Flirty Volumized Lashes With Extra Curl | labellesirene.ca

The Push Up Drama mascara adds a boost of volume and drama to your lashes, lifting them into a curl that lasts all day. The wand's size is perfect for getting to each and every lash without getting any product where you don't want it. It's the perfect size for coating your lower lashes without any of the usual mess. There is no smudging, smearing or flaking during both application and the rest of the day.

The Falsies Push Up Drama mascara delivers on every single thing it promises, it gives great volume and lifts your lashes up to the sky. The wand takes a bit of practice especially if you are accustomed to heavier bristle brushes but the formula is worth it.

If you are looking for a nice lightweight mascara that gives you naturally beautiful lashes with no mess then you should definitely try out the new The Falsies Push Up Drama.

New In | L'oreal Le Matte & La Lacque Longlasting Lip Colour Pencils

Review | L'oreal Le Matte & La Lacque Lip Colour Pencils | Bold Vibrant Shades In Two Finishes | labellesirene.ca

Hey Beauties!

Lip crayons have been all the rage for the past couple of years and they definitely aren't slowing down any time soon. There are so many new formulas and improvements and L'oreal is ready to join the game with their new Le Matte & La Lacque Long-lasting Lip Colour Pencils.

The L'oreal Le Matte & La Lacque Long-lasting Lip Colour Pencils retail for $9.99 CAD and are a new addition to the Colour Riche Line. They are a modern take on the classic lipstick pencil with a sleek design, pure pigments and nourishing ingredients.

Review | L'oreal Le Matte & La Lacque Lip Colour Pencils | Bold Vibrant Shades In Two Finishes | labellesirene.ca

The lip colours come in vibrant, colour co-ordinated tubes with a sleek retractable pen like applicator that offers precise and easy application. The two finishes are formulated with Argon and Safflower Seed Oil that help to create a lightweight layer of colour that lightly hydrates the lips and prevents them from drying out over time.

Le Matte

The Le Matte lip pencils come in 5 bold, show stopping shades and feature a liquid velvet complex with pure pigment intensity. They offer an easy to wear formula that feels thin and satiny but provides comfortable full coverage in one quick swipe.
The pencils glide smoothly onto the lips with an ultra creamy feel that sets to a slight powder finish. They stick nicely to the lips without any issues of migration or feathering and they are even pretty resistant to transfer. They last for a full 5 hrs before fading to reveal an even stain.

La Lacque

The La Lacque lip pencils come in 3 stunning mauvey shades and feature a similar liquid silk complex with the same intense pigmentation as the Le Matte pencils. They have a drier formula that drags slightly and clings to the lips but still feels ultra comfortable and lightweight. Despite a touch of stickiness they glide on smoothly into an even layer that can be built upon. They provide stunning shiny colour with a subtle glossiness that makes the lips look plump and healthy. The drier consistency means they hold onto the lips really well and there are no issues with bleeding or migration while they last a good 4-5 hours.

The L'oreal Le Matte & La Lacque Long Lasting Lip Colour Pencils are a fantastic addition to the world of lipstick pencils. They provide stunning pigmentation in gorgeous shades and beautiful finishes. The mattes are incredibly creamy and feel so comfortable on while the lacques have a beautiful finish and a great wear time. I really enjoy them and think they are a new favourite in my collection!

New In | Urban Decay Vice 4 Palette Review & Swatches

Urban Decay Vice 4 Eyeshadow Palette | Review & Swatches | Bold Unhinged Colour in An Array Of Finishes | labellesirene.ca

Hey Beauties!

I have a confession to make. For years I have read post after post and watched video after video about Urban Decay's famous eyeshadow palettes. From the Naked palettes to the Electric palette and the Vice palettes of the past few years, I have lusted after each and every one from afar but I have never been able to bite the bullet and hand out the money to own one of those palettes. Now that has all changed with the stunning Vice 4 palette making it's way into my life and it's the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

The Urban Decay Vice 4 palette retails for $70 CAD / $60 USD and is a limited edition holiday palette that follows in the sparkly, jewel toned footsteps of the past Vice palettes.

Inspired by Urban Decay's infamous Oil Slick eyeshadow (black with a multi coloured glitter), the Vice 4 palette comes in utterly stunning packaging that resembles a piece of glass shattered into an oil spill. Inside are 20 never before seen shadows, a massive mirror (my new favourite for doing my makeup) and a pretty decent double ended brush.

Urban Decay Vice 4 Eyeshadow Palette | Review & Swatches | Bold Unhinged Colour in An Array Of Finishes | labellesirene.caThose 20 eyeshadows reflect the various tones and colours that can be found in that infamous Oil Slick eyeshadow. An array of rich jewel tones against deep smoky neutrals in a wide range of finishes from velvety smooth mattes to shimmers, metallics and shades packed with micro-glitter.

The shadows are formulated with Urban Decay's exclusive Pigment Infusion System - "a proprietary blend of ingredients that deliver rich, velvety, blendable colour that lasts and sparkle that stays in place." This results in 20 insanely pigmented shadows with show stopping vibrancy and unbeatable shine.

11 of the 20 shadows have a heavy micro-glitter that is absolutely stunning on the eye but also makes them slightly dry and powdery and results in quite a bit of fall out during application but not during wear. The remaining shadows are split between 4 incredibly creamy matte shadows and 5 smooth shimmer and metallic shades.

Urban Decay Vice 4 Eyeshadow Palette | Review & Swatches | Bold Unhinged Colour in An Array Of Finishes | labellesirene.ca

Each row of eyeshadows is styled in a colour co-ordinated story with a focus on a certain tone or shade. The first row is the most cool toned of the palette with Bones ( an oyster satin with pearl), Grip ( a taupe with iridescent micro glitter), Deadbeat (a black satin with micro glitter), Beat Down (a deep metallic violet with blue micro glitter) and Pandemonium ( a cool burgundy with micro glitter).

The second row is still relatively cool toned but features an overall pink/purple theme with Framed ( a light neutral matte satin), Fast-ball ( a metallic peachy pink with micro glitter), 1985 ( a metallic fuschia with micro glitter), Underhand ( a burgundy brown satin) and Harlot ( a metallic lavender).

The third row is full of beautiful sea greens and blues with Discreet ( a soft dusty mauve matte), Grasshopper ( a metallic emerald with green micro glitter), C-Note ( a frosted green with micro glitter), Arctic ( a bright teal with tonal sparkle) and Robbery ( a deep metallic brown gunmetal).

The last row is a warm lovers dream with Bitter ( a reddish brown matte), Flame ( a bright orange with gold micro glitter), Low ( a brown matte with iridescent glitter), Crowbar ( a black with golden metallic pearl and micro glitter) and Delete ( a deep chestnut brown matte satin).

The majority of the shades in this palette are absolutely stunning and apply seamlessly. They blend out beautifully and build to create gorgeous multi dimensional looks. There is a decent amount of fall out during application but once on the lids there are no issues. A few of the shades perform less than spectacularly, Grip, Low and Delete all have a drier texture and apply quite patchy but overall the palette is wonderful.

I have absolutely fallen in love with this palette and I think it is such an amazing gem to have in my collection. If you don't mind a little bit of glitter in your life and you like to be creative with your eyeshadow looks then I think this is definitely something that you would love to play with.

The Urban Decay Vice 4 Palette retails for $70 CAD and is available at Sephora and Urban Decay's website.

Stila Eternal Love Liquid Lipstick Set For Holiday 2015 | Review & Swatches | Bold One Swipe Colour & A Creamy Matte Formula | labellesirene.ca

Hey Beauties!

Liquid lipsticks are all the rage right now and I am completely obsessed. I have made it my personal mission to test out as many different formulas and brands as possible. Being such a huge fan of Stila Cosmetics I have had my heart set on trying their Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks but let's be honest, I can't always fork out $30 a piece. Stila must have heard my cry because they released two amazing liquid lipstick sets for the holidays that give you the chance to try a bunch of shades for a discounted price!

The Eternal Love Liquid Lipstick Set is a limited edition sampling of Stila's award winning Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks including their best selling red and two new shades for 2016.

Stila Eternal Love Liquid Lipstick Set For Holiday 2015 | Review & Swatches | Bold One Swipe Colour & A Creamy Matte Formula | labellesirene.ca This trio retails for $26 CAD/$20 USD and features three deluxe sized lipsticks with 0.03 oz of product each. It is a pretty incredible value when 3 lipsticks at .03 oz and $26 are less expensive than one full lipstick at .10 oz and $29 CAD.

The lipsticks are packaged in stunning matte gold and transparent tubes with gold accents  that just couldn't be more luxurious and chic. They feature a unique flattened doe foot applicator with a flexible hinge that makes application an absolute breeze. It ensures that the product smooths over the lips in an even silky coat.

The Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks are full coverage, creamy matte lipsticks that apply like a gloss but dry to a velvety matte finish. They offer vibrant, extremely pigmented, long-lasting colour with a weightless feel that will make you forget you are rocking a bold red lip.

Enriched with Vitamin E and Avocado Oil to help keep dryness at bay, they feel ultra comfortable and much more wearable than other liquid lipsticks. The wear time is phenomenal, lasting through eating and drinking with no smudging, fading or transfer. I have gone out and enjoyed 3 coffees and lunch with almost no fading or bleeding whatsoever.

The Eternal Love set includes 3 shades including Stila's best selling red "Beso" (a vibrant classic red) and two new shades that will be released for Spring 2016. "Baci" is a stunning nude mauve with a grey undertone and "Ricco" is a gorgeous rich chocolate brown with a purple tint.

Marc Jacobs La Sofia Petites Le Marc Lip Creme Collection For Holiday 2015 | Review & Swatches | 5 Mini Le Marc Lip Cremes | labellesirene.ca

Hey Beauties!

When it comes to Holiday beauty kits I have a major weakness for anything miniature. Could be lipsticks, mascaras or blushes, if it's mini then I need to have it in my life. I started collecting miniature lipsticks just last year but I have already amazed a pretty great little collection and by far my favourite ones are the Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creams so when I saw that they were releasing a set for the holidays I couldn't hold in my excitement.

The Marc Jacobs La Sofia Petites Le Marc Lip Creme Collection retails for $54 CAD/$45 USD and features 5 deluxe sized Le Marc Lip Cremes in an adorable black patent leather pouch that is perfect for your sunglasses or some makeup. Each lipstick comes in a perfect rendition of the full sized packaging - a luxurious black patent tube with a magnetic closure.

The La Sofia Collection features 5 of Marc Jacobs' bestselling reds including Infamous (a soft peony), So Sofia (an electric watermelon), Dashing (a very cherry), Boy Gorgeous (a berry rouge), and Blow (a dark berry velvet).

Each lipstick contains 0.05 oz of product while one regular sized Le Marc lipstick contains 0.12 oz and retails for $38 CAD. So for the price of one lipstick you are getting the chance to try 3 different shades.

Formulation

The Le Marc Lip Cremes are gorgeous cream lipsticks with intense pigmentation and a satin matte finish. The Lip Cremes are formulated with concentrated "colour boost" pigments that are triple milled and offer instant colour payoff. The vibrant colour is transferred to the lips in one swipe with full coverage and opacity.

The lipsticks are also formulated with powerful peptides, antioxidant rich seaberry and natural humectants - mercanti and cocoa butter that all help to keep lips hydrated and nourished. The combination results in a gorgeous buttery smooth lipstick that glides on like silk without any dragging or skipping. The Le Marc Lip Cremes feel like butter on the lips, they provide a bold wash of colour while moisturizing and plumping the lips.

Review | Luxie Beauty Makeup Brushes

Luxie Beauty Synthetic Makeup Brushes | Review | Glam Pink & Rose Gold Brushes | labellesirene.ca

Hey Beauties!

Long time no talk! I'm sorry I've been so MIA for the last little while but I've had a few things going on in my personal life and at the same time I embarked upon a massive project of redecorating my entire apartment. I will have a post up soon to show you everything I did but for now lets get back to the makeup!

A good set of brushes is essential to every girl's makeup collection, whether it's big or small. They make a massive difference in the way products apply and appear on your skin. You could have only 10 products that don't break the bank or a huge collection of high end goodies but either way a good set of brushes will completely change the end result.

I recently picked up a few brushes from Luxie Beauty, a company that I saw plastered all over Instagram for their gorgeous rose gold and pink brushes, and I have fallen in love.

Luxie Beauty Synthetic Makeup Brushes | Review | Glam Pink & Rose Gold Brushes | labellesirene.ca

The Basics

As I said, Luxie is known for their gorgeous pink brushes and I have to admit that is part of why I was drawn to them. Each brush has a stunning pearlescent baby pink handle with a rose gold ferrule and duo fibre bristles. Each brush also has the name and number embossed onto the handle in a silver font so you can easily find the brush you want.

Apart from how beautiful they look I was really intrigued because all of Luxie's brushes are synthetic, cruelty free, paraben free and completely vegan. Luxie currently offers 40 different brushes that cover every aspect of beauty from foundation, blending, blush, eye shadow and concealer to spoolies and lip brushes. You can buy each brush individually or try out one of their curated sets that range from full face essentials to the best eye brushes or even the entire collection.

The Quality

Luxie's brushes are regularly compared to both MAC and Sigma in terms of quality and price but I personally think they are in a league of their own. They are truly incredibly well made brushes and they have a really nice weight and length that creates a perfect balance when you hold them in your hand.

The bristles are densely packed into the ferrules which are firmly attached so you don't have to worry about any wiggling or separation. The brushes are all individually handmade and shaped so each one is perfectly cut. The bristles are ridiculously soft but they are dense enough to pick up product well and apply it smoothly. They blend out both liquid, cream and powder products incredibly well and give an airbrushed finished to whatever you apply.

They all wash really well with no shedding or discolouration. They also have an antibacterial coating on the bristles that prevents bacteria from growing or transferring to your skin.

Brush Breakdown

Luxie Beauty Synthetic Makeup Brushes | Review | Glam Pink & Rose Gold Brushes | labellesirene.ca

520 - Tapered Face ( For Powder, Bronzer etc) $24
504 - Large Angled (For Contour, Blush, Highlight) $16
524 - Small Duo Fibre (For Cream Application or Blending) $18
522 - Tapered Highlighting Brush (For Highlight, Powder or Contour) $24

Luxie Beauty Synthetic Makeup Brushes | Review | Glam Pink & Rose Gold Brushes | labellesirene.ca

205 - Tapered Blending (Transition Blending) - $12
227 - Blending (Crease or Outer V Blending) - $12
237 - Blending (Precision Blending) - $12
235 - Blending (Crease Building/Blending) - $12
213 - Eye Shader (Packing Colour) - $12
211 - Small Eye Concealer (Applying Eye Primer, Outlining Brows) - $12

Luxie has so many different brushes in their range, they have the basic shapes that we all know and love but they also have quite a few unique brushes that I haven't seen before. They are all rather reasonably priced as well, I would say they are comparable to Sigma but slightly cheaper and they offer 30% discount codes rather frequently on Snapchat and Instagram.

I absolutely love the 520 for all over powder and the 522 for setting my undereyes. The 524 is perfection for blending out your blush, bronzer and highlight to meld them all together. The 205 and 227 are my go to transition and crease brushes and the 237 is my new obsession. It is amazing for depositing colour into the outer v and buffing it out without disturbing any other shadows.

The Low Down

I could not say anymore good things about Luxie Beauty Brushes, they are so incredibly well made and they perform beautifully. I feel like they have truly made a huge impact on my makeup application and I cannot wait to get my hands on a few more. Luxie recently released their Onyx Noir Collection which is the more luxe version of the best selling brushes. It also includes a few new styles to try.

You can pick up Luxie Brushes from their website, they frequently have sales and offer worldwide shipping!
