New In | L'oreal Paris True Match Lumi Illuminating Primers & Highlighting Powders

Hey Beauties!

One of my favourite things about summertime makeup is that it is completely okay to rock that glowing goddess look from head to toe. Dewy skin is practically a staple in the warmer months and if you are anything like me you will take all of the glow you can possibly get.

Unfortunately, it can be really difficult to find any sort of highlighting products in the drugstore! Higher end brands like Becca, Benefit, MAC and Make Up For Ever have completely taken over the market for highlighters but not all of us have the ability to fork out $40 dollars for a product that we might not use all the time.

For years the only highlighting product I could get at the drugstore was the L'oreal Magic Lumi Illuminating Primer and if you have been reading for awhile you will have seen it featured in countless posts. Revlon came out with their version a couple of years ago but they didn't offer quite enough intensity for me but now L'oreal has answered my prayers with their new True Match Lumi liquid and powder illuminators!

The True Match Lumi collection makes highlighting incredibly simple by incorporating their True Match shade range system into both the liquid and powder products. If you are familiar with the True Match foundation you will know that it comes in a massive range of shades all of which are sorted into cool, neutral and warm undertones. The Lumi collection also features those various undertones with the letters C, N and W. This makes it so incredibly simple to decide which shade is right for you based on your complexion. The collection features three shades, Ice in C301 - for cool toned (fair) skin - Rose in N201 - for neutral toned (medium) skin and Golden W101 - for warm toned (medium to deep) skin.

The Liquid Glow Illuminators are a dual primer and highlighter that can be worn underneath or mixed into foundation or placed along the high points of the face to add an extra glow to your face. It is an ultra creamy, lightweight liquid that feels smooth and velvety on the skin but packs a punch of highlighting power.

They are insanely pigmented and have no sparkle or glitter just a perfect pearlescent glow that is all thanks to L'oreal's exclusive Pearl-light Technology - a specifically formulated technology that offers optimal colour purity and brightness for high intensity results. It also assists to evenly distribute colorants and improves colour payoff. Because it so intensely pigmented a tiny bit goes a long way and it can be easy to go overboard so start with a drop and work your way up.

They blend beautifully and leave behind a stunning glow that makes your complexion look healthy, radiant and lit from within. The shade Ice* is a beautiful pink tone that is perfect for fair skin and the shade Rose* is a true rose gold that is gorgeous on tanned skin or for adding that tan look to fairer complexions.

{ Ice & Rose with the original Magic Lumi for comparison}

While they knock the highlighting side out of the park I have to admit that I have not really tested out the primer side. I have worn the Ice shade as a primer twice and it was really beautiful, it gave me an all over glow and my L'oreal Pro Matte Foundation (the glow even showed through the foundation!) applied beautifully over top but the Pro Matte Foundation has such amazing staying power that I can't say much on the primer's ability.

The Powder Glow Illuminator is a palette with 4 shades meant to act as a blush, highlighter and all over illuminating powder. The powders are smooth and creamy and nicely pigmented but they are not quite as intense as the liquids. They apply smoothly and blend seamlessly on the skin and I don't have any problems with accentuating pores or texture problems but I have heard that people with larger pores do have an issue. They give the same lit from within glow with a pearlescent finish but the powder has a bit more of a noticeable sparkle. It is only noticeable up close but you will see small flecks if you look in the mirror.

The Palette comes in two shades, Rose and Golden. The shade Rose* has a champagne, a gold a bronze and a deep bronze powder that can be used individually or mixed together to create one shade.

Overall, I think L'oreal did an amazing job with the True Match Lumi Collection. The liquid illuminators are an absolute gem and far out do any other liquid illuminator I have tried. They are seriously gorgeous and I can't get enough of them. The powder is great and I really think it is again the best of the drugstore options but if you are used to something like the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecters you will notice that these are not quite as strong and smooth. I highly recommend both the liquid and the powders if you love a good glowy complexion.

The L'oreal True Match Lumi Illuminators retail for $16.99 CAN and will available mid-July at local drugstores.

  2. These all look gorgeous, I have found that most highlighting primers don't really act as a primer at all, so the fact these are no exception really doesn't bother me. I will definitely have to keep an eye out for these!

  3. The illuminating primers sound amazing, especially the pearlescent finish since I don't like too much shimmer or sparkle. Definitely need to try those out!
