Review | L'oreal Colour Riche Press On NailsMonday, May 11, 2015
If you have been reading for awhile, you will probably know that I have the worst natural nails in the universe. I wasn't graced with naturally perfect nails and in reality I have very thin, brittle nails that grow in a million different directions. They rip and tear and I can't stand my cuticles and since I am a huge advocate of doing what makes you happy, I have stopped fighting with my nails and started covering them up with fake nails.
I have tried almost every brand, every system and every method and I definitely have my favourites. One that I hadn't tried was L'oreal's Colour Riche Press On Nails so I was super excited to see these in my mailbox. The Colour Riche Press On Nails* have been available for a couple of years but this June, a collection of 8 new designs will be available exclusively in Canada. L'oreal's global nail designer Tom Bachik has created 8 gorgeous sets ranging from chic and simple to edgy and fun, that will help you achieve super luxe nails with almost no effort.
The L'oreal Colour Riche Press On Nails offer red carpet ready nails in mere minutes with no mess, no fuss and no glue! L'oreal has designed nails that feel and look incredibly lifelike with their Flex Nail technology that is able to produce an ultra thin and flexible resin that adapts to each individual nail to create a perfect bond. Instead of sticky glue, L'oreal has designed a double sided gel sticker that doesn't damage your natural nails in any way whatsoever! The sticker creates a barrier between your nail and the falsie while providing a super strong bond to ensure they last up to 7 days.
The Colour Riche nails are an absolute breeze to apply and each box includes 24 nails in 12 different sizes so you get far more options that most alternatives. Each box comes with a tray of nails, extra sizes, the sheet of gel stickers, a sizing guide and a cuticle pusher. To apply simply pick out the nails that match your natural nails, if you are between sizes go for the smaller nail as it will look more natural.
Once you have your nail picked, one by one pick out the gel sticker that fits but is slightly small than your natural nail. Apply the gel and smooth it out over the nail before peeling off the plastic backing. Working one nail at a time, apply the falsie pressing firmly in the middle and on each side to ensure a good bond.
If you need to, go ahead and file or cut the nails to work for you. They file really well and you can adjust the shape without the nail chipping or breaking in the process. I found it helped to press each nail a couple more times as you apply the rest of the set and L'oreal recommends that you continue to press them a few more times and to avoid water for the first hour.
Once the falsies have bonded to your natural nails, you are left with absolutely gorgeous nails that look so incredibly lifelike and feel like a second skin. Unlike other nails they blended in seamlessly and I didn't feel like I was wearing anything. Keep in mind that I wear fake nails on a regular basis so I am very used to the feeling of having something sitting on my fingertips, if you are new to falsies you will definitely be aware of them but the L'oreal option feels much lighter that others I have tried. To remove them all you have to do is apply a little bit of nail polish remover around the edges, let it sit and slide the nail off.
I found the nails lasted 5 days before they started to fall off which is really great considering how hard I am on my nails. I wash my hands a million times a day, I am constantly doing the dishes and I spend hours everyday typing on a keyboard so 5 days is pretty fantastic.
Overall, I really love these nails. I think L'oreal has created a really awesome system that is super user friendly and much more appealing than dealing with glue. They provide a huge range of sizes to fit everyone's nails and the designs are seriously stunning. There are some great everyday designs like the one I'm wearing above (Pardon My French*), some really chic ones that scream for a party or a wedding like the glitter in the first photo (Nude Muse*) and even super intricate designs for those of us who love nail art but just can't get it right.
L'oreal's Colour Riche Nails are perfect for special events or even for the girl like me who lives for a chic set of falsies. I really recommend them and for $14.99 they are a fantastic option for everyone. They are available in Shopper's Drug Mart now and will be available in all Canadian retailers starting in June.
Do you wear false nails? What sort of method do you prefer? Have you tried L'oreal's version?
