Lazy Day Style & BeautySaturday, December 06, 2014
Getting ready in the morning is one of my absolute favourite things to do, I love to listen to a fun upbeat playlist and sing along while I create my own mini masterpiece with lipstick and blush. I really enjoy watching the transformation that happens but on the day to day I prefer to stay natural and let my beauty shine through. So what do I do on those days where I want to be a bit more low-key but I might have someone coming over or a quick coffee date to go to? I have a few key tips and tricks that help me get through those lazy days while appearing confident and put together at the same time.
First things first, get yourself a nice big cup of caffeine, no lazy day is complete without a constant supply of tea or coffee, especially when you are gearing up for the day ahead.
Next up, make sure you moisturize! You should never go a day without skincare but on lazy days sometimes you just don't have the energy for the full routine so at the very least, pat on some moisturizer.
Embrace those day old curls! On those lazy days I don't want to spend an hour trying to tame my hair so I like to embrace that messy chic sort of look. Brush out any tangles and maybe curl a couple pieces here and there but don't worry about perfection.
Stay comfortable! Lazy days are meant to be just that - lazy but you don't want to look it. So swap those pyjamas for your favourite pair of leggings and a cozy sweater, keeping it comfortable but still stylish.
Accessorize! The little details can make the biggest impact, so adding a dainty little ring will take your outfit to the next level.
Now when it comes to makeup, keep it simple and fresh. That is the key! You want to let your natural beauty shine through so I like to limit myself to 5 key products.
Concealer - Apply a little bit of concealer in a "V" shape underneath the eyes to make them look brighter and more awake and if you have any blemishes, a small dot will do. Use a light hand to avoid looking overdone! I use NYX HD Photogenic Concealer Wand.
Eyebrow Gel - Eyebrows are so important to a polished appearance but you don't want to make them too perfect for lazy days. Take a tinted gel - my favourite is Benefit's Gimme Brow - and run it through your eyebrows gently. It will add a bit of colour and definition while also keeping those pesky hairs in place!
Cream Eyeshadow - A little bit of of colour on the lids can make a world of difference but powder shadows can be a bit fussy so I prefer to use cream. Use your finger to dab some of the product onto your lid, blend out with a clean brush and voila you're done! I used Benefit's Creaseless Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit.
Mascara - No look is complete without a good mascara, they open up the eyes and add that last finishing touch so make sure you curl those lashes and apply a couple of coats. My current favourite is Revlon's Bold Lacquer Mascara.
Lipstick - No matter how simple your makeup is, lipstick will always elevate your appearance. You can rock a bold bright red and look super chic but I love to do a nice rosy nude like MAC's Kinda Sexy.
Those 5 key products are truly all you need to appear fresh faced and put together and paired with your clothing, accessories and hair your lazy day outfit is complete! With your inner beauty shining through you can accomplish anything and then return home to cuddle up with your favourite furry friend.
