Burnt Copper Chic with MaybellineMonday, November 03, 2014
Today, I am going to share one of my favourite fall makeup looks with you - Copper Chic. For the fall season, I really love to play with warmer tones and deeper colours with a bit of shimmer, they tend to reflect the beautiful reds and yellows of the turning leaves and early sunsets. If you saw my Sunset Inspired Eyes post then you might be able to tell I have a bit of thing for sunsets haha. Well, similar to that post, this look was inspired by a palette, in this case the Maybelline Plush Silk Eye Studio Quad in Copper Chic. This is one of my absolute favourite palettes from the drugstore, it comes with 4 intensely pigmented shimmer shades, 3 of which are varying degrees of gold and copper and one that is a white highlight. The Eye Studio Quads are amazing quality at an amazing price ($11.99) and they come in plenty of colour combinations.
For this look, I used my everyday routine (which you can see here) for the base focusing on a luminous complexion with my trusty L'oreal True Match foundation. I then added some warmth and depth to my face with subtle contouring (Too Faced's Chocolate Soleil Bronzer) and a warm bronzy blush (Benefit's Rockateur Boxed Blush).
Moving on to the eyes, I only used the two darkest shades from the Copper Chic palette, placing the second last (the more golden) shade all over the lid up towards the brow bone, leaving just enough room for a highlight. Then, I took the last shade, which is more of a bronze, and applied it directly into the crease and the outer V, dragging it out in the corners to create a sharp angle. I then took the original shade and ran it along the lower lash line and blended everything thoroughly. I then lightly lined the lash line with the Stila Smudge Stick in Damsel (a dark brown) and coated my lashes with the Revlon Bold Lacquer mascara. The finished look is absolutely beautiful, the darker shade adds a nice warmth that makes the gold look a bit more antique. It also brings out the blue in my eyes.
To top everything off, I chose a nice bold red lip using the NYX Intense Lip Cream in Absolute Red. I really love the contrast between the bright lip and golden smokey eye, this is definitely one of my absolute favourite looks for fall.
Do you like to play with smokier shadows in the fall?
