Manicure Must HavesFriday, October 10, 2014
For as long as I can remember I have been obsessed with painting my nails. Obviously over the years I have moved on from sparkly purple glitter and my abilities have vastly improved - thank god! I still cannot claim to be any sort of expert but I have figured out what works for me, so I thought I would share my manicure must haves and process with you beautiful readers!
Now, to be completely honest it is a very simple process and the hardest part has to be narrowing down my choices from my obnoxious polish collection to the one I will actually use. I'm sure you will find a much more thorough process out there somewhere but I like to keep it simple and quick with only 10 essentials - cotton pads, remover, clippers, cuticle pusher, buffer pad, cuticle balm, cuticle oil, nail hardener, polish and a topcoat.
Onto the process, once I have removed my old polish I will go in with the clippers if need be then follow with my trusty Sephora 4 Sided Buffer Block which is a thing of genius. It has 4 different levels of buffing power that make for the perfectly polished nails. Next up is dealing with my unruly cuticles, I use a metal tipped pusher to push them back to the nail bed and then slather them in my Julep Mighty Cuticle Serum. This stuff is pretty amazing, it packs a punch of hydration and i absolutely love the delivery system. I have incredibly weak nails so it incredibly important that I prime my nails with a hardener and my favourite is OPI's Nail Envy. Once the base is set I finally get to go in with the colour, this time I chose Essie's Go Ginza and then followed that up with my Sephora Formula X top coat. Once everything is dry I like to apply a little bit of Burts Bees Cuticle Butter to lock in moisture throughout the day.
