The 90's Nude Lip - La Belle Sirene

The 90's Nude Lip

Monday, September 29, 2014

I honestly never thought I would see the day when the trends from my childhood would be coming back around, but it has happened. Fuzzy sweaters, plaid flannels, crop tops and the brown nude lip have all come back into fashion and it is very surreal. Unfortunately, I just can't convince myself to participate in any of these flashback trends except for the nude lip, something I have always quite liked.

Being very fair skinned I have always strayed from the typical nude lipsticks, instead favouring options with a bit more depth. I have been a fan of the deeper, darker nude for a long time and I am happy to see it come back into the beauty rotation - thank you Kylie Jenner. I actually have a fair few in my collection but I have picked my top 3 to share with you. Number 1 is the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in the shade 14, number 2 is Bite Beauty's Luminous Creme Lipstick in Musk and number 3 is of course MAC's Velvet Teddy.

Are you loving the reincarnation of the 90's trends?

  3. The colour suits you so well. I'm so happy it's coming back into trend it makes me feel like I'm in with the trends rather than going for a boring option when I wear it now haha.

  5. which lipstick are you wearing in this picture? it looks great, and so do you!!! i was very anti-nude lipstick (i'm a red girl ALWAYS!), but something like the one you are wearing looks like it wouldn't make me look lip-less, like most nudes usually do! this could change my opinion of nudes completely...!

    1. I'm actually wearing the rimmel one! It would look amazing on you! Definitely give a darker nude a try, it changes everything!

  6. I can't ever seem to make a nude lipstick work for me, you have to be really careful edging on the foundation lip edge! I tend to stick to a red, but I have to admit that I have a soft spot with velvet teddy, along with the rest of the world lately, it seems!

    1. Nudes can be so tricky, you definitely don;t want concealer lips but that's why I love the darker nudes so much!

  7. I've been having the same deja vu feeling! I wore plaid, dock martins and nude lips when I was younger and now they're back in style. I use to wear Velvet Teddy all the time, might have to pick up a new one!

  8. Love that shade on you, Courtney- so pretty with your hair! I'm all about the 90s lip trend, as I remember lusting after that look when I was younger and am now old enough to embrace it :)
