Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm | The Review - La Belle Sirene

Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm | The Review

Friday, August 08, 2014

I am a big sucker for a tinted lip balm and my collection is far too big but I've not stopped collecting because I had not yet found "the one". It's a bit of a Goldilocks situation, some are just not hydrating enough, some are too sheer and some don't last very long. I had resigned myself to layering on a combination of stains and heavy duty balms until I found the amazing Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balms.

In my opinion, the Pixi Lip Balms are the holy grail of tinted lip balms, they are by far the best I have ever tried. First off, they are adorable! How can you not love that packaging, simple colour coded tubes with a little bit of a vintage ice cream shop vibe. The product inside is even better if that is possible. Formulated with Shea Butter and Vitamin E to protect and nourish the lips, these balms are ridiculously hydrating. They feel heavier on the lips than others like it and they have a thicker texture more true to a traditional balm. The formula is incredibly soothing and my lips feel soft and hydrated long after the colour has faded.

Speaking of colour, there are 6 shades available and the three I own are Natural Rose, Pixi Pink and Ripe Raspberry. All three are richly pigmented to the point of being almost opaque on the lips and the colour lasts for a good three hours before I need to reapply. There is also a faint vanilla cupcake taste and scent that adds to the appeal but it is not too strong for people with sensitivities.

(L-R Natural Rose, Pixi Pink and Ripe Raspberry)

I truly think that the Pixi Lip Balms rival other options with their intense hydrating abilities, bold colour and lasting power. These are not balms that need to be reapplied every half hour or so, they hold their own in all ways. I believe I have finally found "the one" and I hope you take a chance and test them out.

You can buy the Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balms at Target for $8.99
